I have dealt for years at Dick's.(really like these guys..... Because I know vehicles I thought it would be hard to rip me off. Years ago I had no oil in my transfer case(Harm said,"Opps,not sure what happened there(!)...it's probably ok...they are kinda tough ya know" Next year the actuator for the 4x4 went again....just around a year. Harm said,"Well, those things can go anytime"(!)(charged me another $250...for another $80 part...that takes 30 mins to install)...no warrantee! Last, but not least...front axle replaced with China box part. [First guy didn' t know of the guarentee.] I said to Harm.,"I asked specifically for USA parts!" He said ,"Well , US/China who knows anymore." I said ,"Fair,...Oh, by the way Can.Tire has one on the shelve for $129 bucks with lifetime guarantee (!)" [Harm said, "This China one is a year."] I said, "Take your time to call around and find a US part ...then we will talk again." He said,"NO !,...time is money" [I guess my money/time isn't worth much"]! I said ,"Well, in 5 mins I found a Cardone brand(USA) with lifetime guarantee for 75 bucks" He indicated that he seen nothin wrong in the product and won' t change. I said,"We will talk again...if I come back".... and so I tried to talk with him recently about the work done a month or so ago...BECAUSE Midas re-checked my front end and said,"Your tie-rods are worn out and your idler arm is bad too,but your Pitman arm is ready to fall off"(!!) I told them I asked Dick's to check the front end and grease it all. They said,"They couldn't have"(! I tried to talk to Harm...he said he was 'done-with-me', and hung up.

I took a transmission there to have it rebuilt. When I got the car back, it was all messed up. Transmission was screwed. At first, they refused to release my car to me with it messed up. I offered to pay, but the father refused to give me my car. He told me "You brought it to us, and we have it until the job is done right." I asked him "Do you just guess how to put these transmissions together correctly?" and the father actually said "YES", at which time his son told him to shut up. I told them that they had lost my confidence in them to do the job correctly, and I informed them that it was illegal to seize my car if I was willing to pay the bill. They charged me over $2000 for the "work" that they did on my transmission. I took my car to another transmission specialist in Hamilton that is known for rebuilding. I got a report back with SEVERAL mistakes that Dick's made. One part was actually installed upside down and backwards! It wasn't until I was ready to take them to court that he actually refunded me the money that he charged me to screw up my transmission.

Everyone in the know, in the area, knows Dick's reputation. When it comes to transmission work, it's THE place. I was first sent there, years ago, by my mechanic, near Millgrove. The local Canadian Tire sends people there ( ask me how I know ;) ). This last time, my tow truck driver ( yep, transmission trouble ) told me that Dick's has the best reputation. As he said "people talk". So.... they don't take credit cards. Another review cut off two stars as a result. Well, guess why... It has Zero to do with their integrity and quality of work. They take bank cards, cash, etransfer ( which is why I am online at the moment ). They are fair, honest, helpful and just plain good at what they do.

Well run garage, fair and honest Payment can only be Cash Cheque or Debit No Credit cards
