Hey! My fiance took me horseback riding on my birthday. I have never been around horses or been on a horse. She picked Diamond Head Outfitters as the place to go. I was super excited to go, but it was definitely not a great experience. Once we got there, we signed waivers and I did not check a couple of boxes that said the Host wanted to give me a helmet but I said refused. Being my first time, I wanted to be safe and wanted a helmet. I let Jim know. We were all ready to go and I was put on a slower horse as I was new to all this. There was no introduction or instruction on horses and no helmet. He said put your foot here and I got on the horse. He adjusted the saddle and asked if it was good, I said sure. He said pull here for left, here for right and back to stop. I was definitely expecting some more training. At this point, I was pretty terrified. Did not know what I was doing and did not what my horse was doing. Somehow he just followed the other horses and I was holding on not to fall off. As we left, I was about 30-40 feet away from our guide Jim for the whole two hours. He never asked how I was doing or provided any instruction from here. It was really learn on your own and don't screw up or you fall off. Also, I did not get a helmet like I requested. I was pretty terrified. My horse kept wanting to drink water and I did not know what to do. At one point, it felt like we were going to sink in the pond of mud and water we got in. All in all, my horse did what it wanted. Went off trail, through buses and trees and I went along for the ride. Hit bushes with my face, trees with my knees and Jim kept telling me to kick my horse faster. Only 1 hour in I realized that I was not kicking my horse properly. I was happy to get off the horse and I definitely had a horrible experience around horses. I am not sure if I will do it again. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FOR BEGINNER PEOPLE WHO WANT TO GO ON A HORSE BACK TRIP!!!

I ride here often and love every minute of it. In fact I loved it so much I bought a part of this company. The wildlife is amazing from bears, salmon, herds of elk, deer and eagles. Everyone should experience the joy of riding for the sheer joy of it and here you can do that.

The guides were so lovely and informative about the area we were in. They stopped and pointed out falls and mountains. We were brought through water and forest around the ranch property and they really cater to all abilities. I'd never ridden a horse before but I'll definitely be going back!!

Absolutely stunning location, and Jim was incredible. Very friendly, and personal ride. They never book groups together, so you're only with people you know - makes it a really nice atmosphere. Learning about the history of the Squamish Valley, the trail winds through different forests and microclimates. Elk tracks, deer tracks, bear tracks.. couldn't ask for more. I'll definitely be back my next trip out west!
