My husband and I just went on our first trip with Detours to South Africa and it was an unforgettable experience. From the early planning stages, Detours was quick to respond to any questions we had before we even left on the trip. In South Africa, Dan was our trip leader and Darren was also on our trip as a trip leader in training. Dan's humor, wit, charm and penguin knowledge! made every day an adventure and he navigated some challenging situations with grace. He was constantly working to ensure everyone had what they needed throughout the trip and kept everyone organized and on time for our various excursions. Darren brought a wealth of knowledge about South Africa that he shared with the group, not to mention a great sense of humor. It was nice to learn more about the country while taking part in all of the scheduled and optional activities. The best part about traveling with Detours is the flexibility allowed. You have the choice to participate in the planned activities, meals, etc. or to strike out on your own and explore. We had many unforgettable experiences in South Africa - hikes with amazing views, fun bars and restaurants in Cape Town, winery tours, and a safari that was top notch. We'll definitely be booking with Detours again in the future.
Just finished our trip to Costa Rica with Detours Travel. This was our third trip with Detours and just like our trips to South Africa and Croatia with them, our latest trip was amazing. Our latest experience was awesome because of the natural beauty of the country, the activities planned, made many new friends and our excellent and fun trip leader, Brandon. We look forward to our next Detours trip to Central Europe in September. Highly recommend this company!
The Costa Rica trip was amazing! Well organized and balanced between activities and relaxation. The villa in the jungle was a truly unique experience. Brandon was an expert guide to everything. Great energy and organized everything so the whole experience was seamless and relaxed
This was my first Detours experience, and I still can’t believe how life-changing it was. I gifted myself the trip for a milestone birthday, and I thought it would be interesting to say the least. I did not expect to come home with such a dramatic shift in perspective on so many aspects of my life, as well as some amazing new friends! I was thoroughly impressed by the amount of preparation the Detours team puts into their trips. Brandon, our trip leader, was phenomenal. He tirelessly kept our group engaged and made sure we each got the most of our time in Costa Rica. He handled every detail, from the mundane to minor medical emergencies, with complete professionalism. He also knows how to have fun! I cannot overstate how much I appreciate work the Detours team takes in curating the details of their trips. The accommodations were wonderful, with breathtaking views along the way. There are more activities offered than you will be able to complete in one trip. I took advantage of every activity and opportunity presented, and I don’t regret a thing! A couple minor scrapes and bruises are sweet reminders of having been on an adventure. If you have mobility concerns you can always opt out, but I hope you can enjoy as much as possible. I absolutely hope to join Detours for another trip someday. If you are thinking of going on a trip with Detours, bring an open heart and mind, and a sense of wonder – Detours will take care of the rest!
What a fantastic trip to South Africa. Everything was planned out to perfection and the group was a blast. Our guides Dan and Darren were fantastic. Detours Travel is highly recommended - the was my first trip with them and it won't be my last!
This was my first experience using a tour company, and Miles and the Detours team exceeded all my expectations. I am a seasoned traveler, but this time I wanted to enjoy South Africa, without the stress of planning and organizing all the details. I also didn't want a super structured itinerary where every minute of every day was planned. Detours fit the bill, all I had to worry about was getting myself there. There was so much to do, and we felt like we were able to do everything we wanted to do and even experience things we didn't think about. From the time we got to the meeting point to the departure date, everything was taken care of, from reservations for lodging, activities and transfers to and from the various activities, and locations. Miles was our tour leader and also the owner of the company. He had everything well organized and was always available to help with anything from leading a hike, to organizing optional actives, to just hanging out and keeping the group engaged. We had an excellent group of guys, which made the trip even more special, we were able to socialize and share our experiences with others who were either with us or experiencing something different that day. I highly recommend Detours, and I myself definitely plan on using them again. Thank you to Miles and the Detours team for giving me and my partner a great experience for our milestone birthday experience.
I’m on my final day of my very first adventure with Detours Travel and I wanted to share my amazing experience. Actually this was my first time ever leaving the US, and I didn’t know what to expect as I set out on our trip to Italy. But from the very first moment of this trip of a lifetime, everything was flawless. Our trip leaders, Shane and Dan were experts at not only guiding us through our day to day activities - but assisting each individual with their own needs. They made sure to spend time with all of us and get to know us as a group and one on one, and kept us updated daily, on activities or changes. Detours is the epitome of professionalism. Everything was so perfectly planned and timed out. From this first time traveler, I highly recommend using Detours for your next journey. We already have Belize planned for next February and I can’t imagine using any one else to show me the world!!! Thank you Detours for showing me Italy and for changing my life in so many ways!
I have joined 5 trips with Detours Travel. Costa Rica, Spain, Thailand, and Tuscany all were very good. Only the Sint Marten sailing trip was a bit disappointing due to the pandemic situation.
Just finished up the Costa Rica trip with Detours Travel with my husband Sherman. We had a blast touring the country with a great group of guys. Doing fun things every day. Had great weather and loved the food and local people.
