It’s definitely one of the bigger Indian grocery stores in the west GTA, and it truly feels like a one-stop shop for all things Indian.nnThey have a huge selection of frozen Indian foods, which is perfect for quick meals, plus an organic Indian grocery section for those who prefer cleaner, healthier options. Their shelves are also stocked with fresh produce, herbs, Indian cosmetics, utensils, and even prayer items, making it convenient to find everything under one roof.nnThe store was quite packed with people, which is completely understandable given how much variety they offer. The aisles were bustling with activity, and you could tell it’s a go-to spot for the community.nnOverall, a great place for Indian groceries and essentials. Great place with a wide range of Indian groceries and freshly made food. The restaurant menu is quite good and reasonably priced. Tried the Amritsari Kulcha — it was delicious!
I live in Oakville and have been shopping at DESI MANDI burlington since it was established. During the the last dew months I have noticed their prices are much higher by about 15 to 20% as compared to the Indian products available at Freshco. A good example is Deep plain Naan, Freshco charges $1.99 and Desi Mandi 2.99. Even staples like canned chick peas are much more expensive than local grocery stores. Their readymade fresh food section used to have tasty samosas and meat dishes. The last two times I order 2 samosas and butter chicken for take away, the samosas were fried in rancid oil and the butter chicken was horrible. I wont buy their ready made food which is far deom fresh. Theur quality of meat has also gone down. The display shelfs are not stacked properly and is difficult to shop there. I will look for other alternatives for my shopping needs. A typical trait of Indian businesses, launch is very customer centric and as time goes by the service, price and product quality slips.
Home brand product quality is too low. Produce is never fresh. I have to shop at this location because of the vicinity.nnBut yesterday, the saturation level was crossed. I purchased figs and cardamom of their home brand unfortunately that was the only brand available the price is high for such a low quality product. The cardamom doesn’t smell fresh, seems like old lot. On top being sold at ridiculously high prices. Costco which is right next to this locationbeing North American sells high quality cardamom with a package 2x the quantity at the price at this store.nnProducts are sold with no information about manufacturing/ expiry dates.nnThe fig had a garlicky taste and smell, which I believe is a result of cross contamination at their facility.nnBrought some Chickoo and had insects.nnDefinitely not coming here again. If they can’t provide quality products, they don’t deserve a cent of our hard earned money.
