Great Ranger with alot of knowledge and recommendations for our visit.
We have been in the forests west of Sisters frequently for more 50 years, picking send cones , hunting, hiking camping and packing. We have witnessed the degradation of the forests,roads, and trails to the point it makes me cry. If you want to see what I mean go up 242 through the facade of beautiful forest to forest rd. 1028 and drive through to Cash Mountain Toll station then take a left on the 500 road to Big Lake. When you get to the Hortence to Dry Creek trail which is no longer there you will see the signs telling you you need a wilderness permit. for what then enjoy the trip to Big lake. If you never saw that burned out country before all the mismanagement you missed seeing really beautiful area.
Very friendly and informative service. Lots of maps and fun merchandise also available. A great place to start your adventure.

I've lived in Sisters for 4 years now and the staff here are always wonderful and full of knowledge to help people out. The district Ranger in Sisters is also a great guy. I enjoy chatting with everyone when I'm in there.

The office was closed so I had to call in about a problem at the Smiling River Campground. Outhouses have been shut down because they are full and the company responsible said it will be at least 10 days before they get pumped. I left a message with the Ranger, and he called me back in a matter of minutes. He's going out today to look into the matter. Thank you SO much!!
