Firstly, the take out portions are apparently quite small. I actually thought an order was missed or something when I saw the bag. For scale, I placed the dish container beside a small can of catfood. You be the judge. Next the expectation was that we would be floored by the quality if less than happy with quantity. It wasn't bad, it was ok, but if you're looking for the saving grace in this review it isn't here. Price? Would you feel $77 is represented in the pic below? Overall, I'll make the trip to the Ontario side as I know I'll be very satisfied with both taste, price, and quantity and my $77 bucks will go to dinner, and perhaps lunch the next day for my partner and I.
Incredible food. This location as well as the Ottawa location. Very friendly and welcoming family that own it as well. I had called in to make a reservation for this past Valentine’s Day that fell on a Monday. They aren’t open on Mondays and haven’t been for the full three years they have been in business. However they couldn’t turn us away and ended up opening the restaurant just for my wife and I. The thoughtfulness and generosity of that was very surprising and selfless. This is the type of family and restaurant we love to support. Keep up the good work with hospitality as well as the incredible authentic food!
Hi everyone, we called at 7:45 tonight to make a pickup order, never answered us two tries. Finally, on the third, they answered and they hung up on me, didn't have time to say a word. Oupsi. Anyhow, story continues. We were in the area so we drove over 15 minutes away. It's 8pm now and it says they're open until 9pm on Tuesdays. They were inside but doors were closed. Thanks guys! Great customer service, at least an explanation would have been kind.
Great spot! Good atmosphere! Food was full of flavour. We are vegan & gluten free, we had plenty of options and didn’t have to swap or comprise the dishes in any way! We were a group of 3 adults, sharing 5 dishes and some rice. We had enough food to bring some home. Overall the price point was actually very reasonable! Suggested: Order dishes to share!
Awesome - some of the best Indian food I've eaten - perfectly spiced and prepared with care. Folks who think portions are too small or plates are too pricey must be all you can eat buffet frequenters. This is homemade, top quality and local - excellent value and warm, friendly service. Chelsea, we are lucky to have Dernier Train so let's support it - hope to dine in someday soon.
The only place worth ordering take out on the Quebec side of the river. Great authentic Indian cuisine that doesn't require you to cross the border is something to be celebrated. We just moved back to Gatineau and are trying to find our mainstays. This is definitely #1 for us.
Finally! We are so happy to have a great Indian restaurant in our neighborhood. This is our second time we have ordered take out here. All the dishes are very tasty. Portion sizes are fine. Staff is friendly and all wearing masks. Overall great job . We'll be back .
My family and I absolutely love this place! We are so happy and excited to have them up here in Chelsea, QC where we live. The best food, amazing staff and service.. you can taste the authenticity and quality! It is fresh, healthy and delicious! And their location in Chelsea is right on the main strip Old Chelsea Rd, next door to Doozy Candle.. two incredible businesses side by side. We plan on being regulars for a long time!
Lots of local folks seemed to like it we asked around, but this was very disappointing. Very small portions for a pretty high price point. But if the food is great, that's fine. It was not. Baingan Bharta was about 75% peas. Peas! An artificially smokey flavour... where was the eggplant? Chicken Korma with an oddly thin sauce, spicy-hot but not flavourful. A tiny rice portion with no sign of saffron, not as advertised, Maybe we hit a bad night?
Absolutely amazing, delicious food that we are so lucky to have in Chelsea! I realize they are not set up to be primarily a takeout restaurant, but all 3 times we have ordered so far the food was not ready until 20+ minutes passed the requested pickup time. Otherwise a perfect experience!
