Lovely place and staff. The prices are a bit high but you are paying for the experience not just the drink alone. They have little chickens roosters all over the garden and great art work. A lot of attention is paid to details.
We visited Darwin’s cafe during a recent visit to Tofino and I was really disappointed. The food options were nonexistent, and the coffee was lacklustre. The botanical garden and grounds where you can sit and have the coffee are cool, but the coffee itself wasn’t great.
Great space with lots of seating options outside. Works for a group, solo work in cafe or just a family hangout. We got coffees here and were happy. Very friendly staff.
This spot is as pleasant as it is quirky & aesthetic... it’s a great place to grab a coffee, read a book, and even catch a few Zs on a comfy couch overlooking a sculptural garden. Oh... and don’t be surprised if a few wild chickens stroll by and wake you up!
Tofino's a slice of heaven, pretty much no matter where you go. But the Botanical Gardens has always been a regular stop on my regular trips from Vancouver to the end of the road. It's the sweetest nook to read a book, learn about local flora, or get to the Inlet's shore. I had heard recently that the Cafe had a new head chef and that they were re-introducing a full breakfast/lunch menu. I ordered the Havana add: eggs and it was spectacular! My friend ordered the salade Niçoise and it might have been even better however possible. Beautifully presented. Fresh greens and edible flowers from the garden. The eggs from their humanly-raised chickens. And the most perfect steaks of tuna, which I assume or, would like to assume were locally and ethically sourced. I wish I had taken a picture of her salad, but it's a device-free space so I was hyper conscious of my 'black mirroring.' I am shocked to be reading in other reviews that people are upset by this... no Skype or phone calls, in particular... I mean, YOU. ARE. IN. A. PROTECTED RAINFOREST!!!! Take advantage of the natural noises and ambiance! The cherry table cloth was the cherry on top! Adorable!! Thank you, Charles :P
Not bad, but not amazing. The espresso was decent, and my wife's London Fog was good. Food items are limited to a few baked goods and a breakfast-pizza-bun type thing. Definitely an interesting place.
Good place to start your journey into the Botanical gardens! Or while you wait for your massage at Stillwater massage a splendid tent hidden in the gardens
I visit Tofino a couple of times a year, and stopping at Darwin's Cafe is always a part of my trip. The botanical gardens are fascinating. The Cafe is beautiful, with an amazing selection of reading material. The Darwin Cafe is a must see for Apes of all ages. I heard they have recently improved the food, I will update my review once I've had a chance to try it!
Peaceful Cafe overlooking a beautiful garden. Good coffee and good selection of baked goods.
Kind of expected to see a lot of flowers and big bushes of flowers at the botanical gardens, like the kinds they have at their entrance. At least our $40 was donated to the FN there.
