How can such a large hospital NOT have a toll-free number? Not everyone you serve lives in NH and not everyone carries long distance service I don't personally need it - or a cellphone for that matter. When I finally do find a means to contact you, I get nowhere because the department I'm trying to reach closes at 5 pm - it was 4:50 pm. How can you NOT have answering machines for your various departments? Lastly, what kind of facility schedules appointments without checking with the patient if that date and time even works AND sends notification of the appointment through the mail? YOU HAVE MY PHONE NUMBER! Try calling it to schedule an appointment. Guess I'll just have to cancel this appointment the same way you scheduled it - THROUGH THE MAIL. Seriously, with all the money you make, you can surely afford a toll-free number and answering machines for your departments. If not, that's pretty sad. And also, the doctor I saw 6 months ago was supposed to set up a procedure. Never heard back so I'm getting the procedure done elsewhere. My daughter was given a referral for a specialist two months ago. Still haven't heard back so we'll be going elsewhere for that as well.
It would be great if they put as much concern and effort in helping the patients as they do in making sure I could NOT walk my mother to her appointment to make sure that she is in the correct place and comfortable. If you would like to make sure that a loved one is comfortable with there surroundings you cannot. The hospital will not allow you in unless you have an appointment. Emotional support is not welcome at this facility. With that in mind can anyone be sure that there priorities are in the right place. Operating more like a prison than a Healthcare facility. I am and encourage you as well to rethink this establishment for one that cares more about the people they are here to help and not policing the entrance.
My brother was recently in the ICU and passed there. The doctors, nurses, and any staff we had contact with were caring, compassionate, and supportive. A huge thank to the ICU nurses Kelsey, Shelley, Heather, and Lauren. From one nurse to the other you are the best. Thank you for taking such great care of my family and my baby brother. You forever will be in our hearts.
Do not even try to be a patient here… although good luck with that since they are a complete monopoly in the area which shouldn’t even be legal… I have been a patient here for 4 years and can not be seen for recheck appointments GI Or dermatology for 6 months. primary care can’t see you for those issues - has to be a referral. And since you can’t be seen as a patient - you end up with 2 extremely expensive ER bills with no follow up. This health care system only cares about the money and not at all about the well being of their patients.
I had an awful experience with Dr. Thedani at Dartmouth that ruined my life long experience with this hospital. He was dismissive, rude and interrupted me frequently. I was not treated like an actual patient in need for care and treatment but more like someone he wanted out of his office fast. He threw aside most of my concerns and said that the majority of my health complications were just anxiety ignoring that I had mono and Covid combined, and then diagnosed me with a disorder that doesn’t even make sense with my current physical symptoms and now I’m stuck with it. So I’m just alerting everybody of the possible trauma it can cause you like it caused me. That demeaning treatment. So take it as you’d like but be aware of what can occur if the hospital isn’t more aware, or doesn’t care at all like they act like they do.
When I woke up from a coma I was told I may never walk again. I left this hospital after almost a month in ICU and taught myself how to walk at home. I appreciate the DART helicopter pilots that saved my life and the doctors that took care of me. Please don’t doubt your patients and charge them costs they cannot pay or they will learn how to walk at home.
I went there with video of a crazy parasite that is borrowing a long my vein, a x ray with major anomalies on my bone structure, multiple live species and a video of my mother pleading for help of what she saw. Yet. I the clueless Dartmouth Doctors refuse to watch any videos, take my species to the lab. I gone there twice yet they do want to help... Never go here. They will not listen, or observe crustal information for recovery. Malpractice, mapratice, malpractice. It might had beb different if I had a family or was a woman likely....... In addition I just realized . I came for parasite work they wrote a wound check pm god! I think there is a huge difference???? I am a outdoor s man I can fix a wound .... Why they decided to treat feat for something I did not ask for is beyond me.. I still a parasite and no hospital that want to treat me...
If you can, avoid this place and get your care at a better hospital. I do not trust D-H or their doctors to do what is best for me. They say it’s because they are short-staffed, but they are mostly just slow and inefficient. In NY or Boston at one of the real Ivy-league teaching hospitals, one intake person is worth 20 at D-H, and without the attitude. It takes them forever to get back to you or to follow up. You had better have good insurance, too, or they will not give you referrals for care you need until it is too late for you. They will kill you slowly but surely, probably while you’re on hold or waiting to hear back from your provider. Good luck.
If you can manage, save yourself some money and get better care by going to one of UVM's facilities. My care at Dartmouth Hitchcock has been extremely expensive with limited financial aid and the quality of care and personal connection very low. UVM experiences have been excellent. Folks there are so kind and caring and they are really trying to make everything affordable.
Treated like a prisoner. Nurses are fine but the doctors are lazy as ****. I felt like another number for them to stick in a bed and collect more money from the state for. Another week stay for something mysterious to me. Doctors make a lot of $$ but the amount time spent on a patient? I've been here for three nights and seen my Dr for about 10 minutes total. I'm just a number to put on a piece of paper to collect money from. No help at all
