Story

The experience of eating in the dark has been the rage of Europe, Australia, L.A and New York for last decade. We are offering you the opportunity to live this experience now in Montreal. You will acquire a complete new understanding of food, drink and conversation like you never have before.

With the heightened senses due to lack of visual recognition, you will have an unmatched and unique dining experience and will savor the smell and taste of your food.

At Restaurant Dans le Noir, after adopting to the pitch black environment, without a single sight of a light (no cell phones, illuminated watches or lighters) not only that you would expand your imagination and stimulate your senses, but also you will have an understanding of what it’s to be blind – just like the restaurants’ entire wait staff.

This socially conscious concept sprang from Jorge Spielmann, a blind pastor in Zurich who used to blindfold his dinner guests at his home so they could share his eating experience. In 1999, Spielmann opened Blindekuh (German for Blind Cow), a project aimed at teaching the sighted about the sightless world, and provide jobs for blind people.
