My husband and I ate here today for the first time and the food was so delicious We ordered the curry goat, a jerk chicken poutine and two festival. The staff were so friendly - SO unlike other Jamaican restaurants. 10/10 would recommend!!
Da Taste was Da-Licious Based on several recommendations we decided to dine in for a Friday night dinner. We were quickly greeted and seated by a hostess. She brought us our menus and set out cutlery which came in a white linen napkin. We were informed that they were offering half price chicken wings on this night. After checking out the menu we settled on an order of the jerk BBQ chicken wings, a chicken Jamaican patty, beef Jamaican patty, fried chicken dinner and jerk chicken roti. The Jamaican patty and chicken wings were served first. It was all delicious. The chicken wings had an excellent fry on them. The jerk spice was also pretty spicy which I enjoyed. Perhaps some of the best chicken wings I had ever been served. At 1/2 price it was an excellent deal and I would have them again. Our main entrees came and everything was steaming hot. Our server let us know if we needed any extra sauce and gravy we were welcome to it at any time. The jerk chicken roti looked amazing. Had excellent flavour and seasoning. The roti itself was also delicious. The fried chicken dinner came with coleslaw, rice and beans. Everything tasted great. The coleslaw I enjoyed a lot. The rice and beans were delicious too. The fried chicken was mind blowing. I enjoyed it thoroughly and would recommend it to all. It was like no other fried chicken I had ever had. The service was fantastic. Both servers that we dealt with were incredibly friendly and professional. Some of the best service I have had during a dine in restaurant. Overall the experience was an excellent one. The Best & Real Authentic Jamaican Food in Town. Da Taste offers Authentic Jamaican foods and tastes that you have not tried elsewhere and as a result you will have a memory of that True Jamaican meal. That is what we look for in a Jamaican restaurant and we have got it @ Da Taste. The quality in preparation in the food and, of course, the service always makes for a great experience. Very professional service with knowledgeable and friendly staff. The food is great and affordable. The Best Escovitch we had since we visited Negril and Montego Bay. All waiters are enthusiastic. Would encourage everyone to visit. Highly recommend for a special occasion. Our experience was beyond excellent. 100/10. Ordered Curry Goat Roti. Was easily the best one I have ever had. It was huge. Flavour was amazing. Full of curry, meat and potatoes. Had some from other local places that were all roti, no fill. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.Food: 5/5
I've dined once inside and tried take out with friends. Both meals were delicious. The restaurant is clean and some but nicely done. The staff was friendly and food pleasingly plated and presented. Take out was as good as when eating in. Would recommend.
Chicken curry entree was fantastic! The food is amazing and plentiful! We can't wait to try everything on the menu!
I love this place!! It's my new go to for lunch on Fridays. The curry shrimp roti is to die for. The staff are amazingly friendly and the atmosphere comfortable. The jerk chicken and gravy is also amazing. If you have a taste for spice and appreciate quality food then this place is a must: I would also like to add that you share this sparingly so that it remains a hidden gem. Lol... Just kidding. I will have to just wait my turn as this place inevitably becomes as popular as it rightfully should. Well done to everyone involved in the success of this wonderful establishment:
If you haven't tried Da Taste yet, what are you waiting for! This is hands down the best Jamaican restaurant I have ever eaten in. The food is truly a taste of home. Authentic and delicious! The service is warm, welcoming and super friendly. And you will leave feeling the way a dining experience should make you feel. Oh, and try the escoveitch fish. It is devine!
Very bad experience, got curry chicken roti and while serving it to my kids I find a piece of plastic wrapping inside which could have been very bad, hopefully this doesn’t happen to anybody else
We got here at 8:20 pm, placed our order around 8:30 pm. It was downhill from there. The server got us water around 15-20 minutes later. Till 9 pm, there was no sign of our food. We asked the server and she said our order is next and will be out very soon. At 9:15 pm there was still no sign. We went to the counter and asked the server about the food who rudely told us that there were other people ahead of us and so we’d have to wait. We told her it had been 45 minutes and we had a long drive ahead of us and we could not wait any longer. She said she’d cancel our order and that was that. Zero remorse, no apology on the 45 minute long wait. The food might have been good, sadly the zero communication and service skills caused us to simply leave with a sour taste.
