We came to Crown’s Nest as part of a large group party. The staff was very friendly and took good care of us. It was a “Rib Night” so, we ordered Half-Rack Ribs with Grilled Chicken Breast; along with the Liver & Onions plate. We also tried the Potato & Cheese Perogies. Overall, the drinks and the food were quite good for pub fare and, I think that everyone enjoyed theirs. The ambiance was casual and warming, with a quaint decor and lots of things to explore.
Very cozy, and friendly staff. The food was great and fresh! We ordered a Nachos which was so cheesy and tasty, and also a fish taco which was made with fried fish, coleslaw and veggie, I substituted my side with French onion soup and we also got grilled salmon. Huge portion size so we packed the fish and half of the nachos home! We will definitely come back.
Rude service from the server. We didn't receive utensils at our table and when we asked the server about it, she said, "Oh, didn't you know? It's 'eat with your hands day' today!" She did bring the utensils to us after, but the way she brushed the request off with a joke like that was insincere. We didn't appreciate it. Schnitzel was very bland. Cottage Pie and Irish Nachos were overly salty. Irish Nachos were overpriced at $18, the same price as a main. Clientele seem to be repeat local customers only. We were disappointed this pub did not serve green beer as part of the St. Patrick's Day celebrations. They have a good-sized parking lot as well as lots of street parking in front of the restaurant.
Stepping into this place it feels like a warm fine pub. The service was great and fast, food was amazing cottage pie on a cold day Thank you for the yummy lunch
Cosy atmosphere, good quality food with some good varieties. Fair prices. Friendly staff. Definitely would recommend it for friends gatherings. Not the best for families with young children. I would go again.
I ordered a salad and steak dish. It was a good size portion, very tasty and at a reasonable price. Our server Ingrid was very friendly. I loved her recommendation for beer and she checked on us very often. They welcomed us and quickly made us seated at a table. The music was at the right volume and I enjoyed my night. Highly recommended.
Cosy and packed with locals from the area. Servers were friendly and prices were fair. No music just an observation and, wanted to mention in case this matter for anyone expecting a chain pub with sports playing everywhere, one tv by the bar while a hockey game on. Loved seeing people of all ages and children there. A friend suggested we booked because it gets busy. Thankfully we followed their advice! Our table was still not ready when we arrived but there was still a spot left by the bar to have a drink while we wait to be seated. We got lucky and we’re seated at a cute spot. Right by the window and fireplace. Food was good. Not much to say since we went with standard pub food. Good classic family friendly pub!
Size of Party - 2 Reason for going - Dinner & relaxation Overall feeling - Likely won't go back Positives - Great atmosphere, great staff, true pub feel! Negatives - Food was either bland or overcooked. Highlights - Upon arrival we were greeted quickly and shown to a table - Were able to have a few minutes to chat, look around and take in the atmosphere before waitress took our drink order and we did not wait long for them - Waitress was terrific and took our 3 appetizer order of Deep Fried Pickles, Onion Rings and Calamari. Food came out in healthy portions - Pickles were great! Calamari was fine. Onion Rings - Way over done. - During our chatting /drinking and munching, waitress asked us if she could bring out our mains which we had ordered... Halibut Fish & Chips as to which we thanked her and said yes. - At first glance the plate was well proportioned as always with lots of chips and a healthy size of fish. Slaw and tartar sauce with a wedge of lemon - a classic plate. - Closer inspection, the chips were way over cooked much to my displeasure they were very tough just as were the onion rings. - Halibut was an excellent piece of fish, very well cooked, great size... but it lacked flavour. The batter while crispy as it should be, had no flavour to compliment the fish itself... which brought me to the tartar sauce - there was nothing special about this either. The only way to get any flavour into the mean sadly was the malt vinegar and lemon wedge which is disappointing. Cost - Prices would have been as expected and spot on for the size of portions if the food was as good as it should have been... unfortunately it wasn't. Final Thought - The pub is great, from the atmosphere to how quickly it filled on a Friday night, to the staff who were terrific not just ours as I observed other wait staff also. The clientele appear to be local repeats which is nice to see too! If you're going there for drinks then head to the bar where the TV's are on and the Guinness is flowing, however if you're going there for more than just finger foods, then I would try the Crow's Next Pub if you've never been... just don't expect to be "wowed". Cheers!
Food is delicious. Staff are really friendly. Atmosphere is very much like you'd expect t to see in a Scottish Pub. Conversations are easy to have with your family or friends, since there are no TV's playing or loud music being played in the background. There is a good selection of beers to choose from both bottled and on tap. They also serve wines and liquors. Would recommend making a reservation since they are usually very busy. Most meals average about $20. A good variety of foods to choose from. Would definitely recommend trying this restaurant if you haven't already discovered it.
Was there on 18-Dec-22 with my father. The food was delicious I had the Rosemary Chicken Dinner and a Caesar Salad, the atmosphere was cozy, but what struck me most was the kindness and warmth of our Server, "A" she knows who she is. You see, I lost my partner unexpectedly/suddenly just over a month ago; going out in public is very challenging for me these days--so is eating. From the moment "A" approached our table, I felt warmth, kindness, and sincerity. I felt taken care of. Her kindness and light made me feel at ease during the darkest time of my life. I did speak with her about this directly, but I wanted to share it here as well because life is short and we don't always take the time to tell others just how much they have positively impacted us. "A", I will be forever grateful our paths crossed that night and I wish you all the best in wherever life takes you. I don't live nearby, but I hope to return with more of my family members in the new year. Happy Holidays to everyone at the Crow's Nest; thank you for a heartwarming evening. With Gratitude, Lee-Anne
