I booked a 4 nights trip there because I read the rooms are soundproof. I could hear the neighbors cough, snores and urinates. Also, there is a constant hum everywhere.nnThere was also a strong smell of cigarettes. I believe people are allow to smoke in their room. Or at least, the hotel tolerates them.nnI do not recommend this hotel if you want to have a quiet night.
This hotel is undergoing much needed renovations. We have been staying here for all our trips to visit our family but it has definitely gone downhill. There was a strong odour of smoke in our room and in the front lobby that they try to cover with a very irritating air freshener. Our room was definitely not totally clean. There were nail clippings or something like them in the bathroom floor. Even after a room refresh halfway our stay the mirror by the door was still covered with what looked like smeared lotion. For the cost of the rooms it would be nice if breakfast was either included or not so pricey.nnThe staff is very helpful and accommodating and we had no problem with any of them. Our concerns were cleanliness and the strong odors.nnI reached out through a survey and our message was past on. I was never contacted about our concerns beyond that.
We booked a block of rooms at the Courtyard Marriott Upper James location for our children’s out of town guests for their June 22nd wedding. The venue was well maintained and the staff were most helpful with all of our guests needs. I decided to engage the team to host an afternoon rest stop for some of our out of town guests. Nancy Kaur was amazing in helping me plan food and drink for about 20 guests. The day of, the on site staff were helpful and prompt in their preparations and all of my guests were very pleased with the set up and the quality of food. The team even packaged up the leftovers for me to pick up the next day!! Well done and I would definitely recommend!!
My friend stayed here and I dropped in to visit her. Lovely place on a nice set back lot on Upper James, surprisingly serene for a busy area.nRooms are clean and classy, nice to see an actual bathtub in the bathroom also.nLots of plugs and fast wifi.nFood is expensive but decent, I'd probably just take a walk down the street for more & cheaper options.nThere is a pool & gym, but we didn't visit either.nProbably the nicest thing was the lovely patio at the back, full of lush vegetation and water gardens, great place to have your dinner or just blank out the world for a bit.nRoom prices are on the higher end but worth it if you want a nice relaxing stay.
Friendly check in staff. Large and clean rooms. Good food and little mini Mart in the after hours. Decent pool and hot tub. Generally a great place to stay and I think I have been there 3 times.
