I’ve been shopping at this Costco location for over six years and have always been very happy. They consistently have everything I need, and the store is always clean and well-maintained. However, in the last year, it has become noticeably busier, and finding a parking spot during peak hours is quite a challenge. Despite the crowds, the overall shopping experience remains excellent.
I had a very disappointing experience with an employee named Nilo at the return entrance today.nnThere was a long line for returns, and I watched him proactively help every customer ahead of me by scanning their membership card and return item barcode to print a fast return slip before they entered the line. Seeing this, I took out my receipt and prepared everything for him to scan. However, when it was my turn, he didn’t offer the same service. He simply told me to go inside and wait in line. After me, he continued scanning and assisting the customers behind me. I was the only person he skipped.nnWhile I was waiting in line, he repeatedly told me to move aside so he could bring more return carts into the queue. I cooperated every time, but the way he spoke to me felt dismissive and inconsiderate.nnLater, when I was first in line waiting for the next available counter, an employee at the counter raised a hand to call me over. I had already noticed the open counter and was about to walk over, but before I could take a step, Nilo shouted, “Next!” at me in a harsh and unfriendly tone, as if I wasn’t paying attention. It was unnecessary and made me feel embarrassed.nnI understand that Costco can be very busy, and I genuinely appreciate employees who work hard under pressure. However, what upset me most was the inconsistent treatment. Every customer around me received the fast return scanning service except me, and throughout the interaction I felt that I was treated differently. I don’t know the reason, but the experience left me feeling unwelcome and disrespected.nnAs an Asian customer, I couldn’t help but wonder whether my race had anything to do with the way I was treated. I sincerely hope that wasn’t the case, because no customer should leave Costco questioning whether they were treated differently because of their appearance or background.nnI hope Costco will review this incident and remind all employees to treat every member with the same level of courtesy, respect, and consistency. Everyone deserves to feel welcome when shopping at Costco.
Their tiramisu is super creamy with almost pudding like filling. Very satisfying and the portion size is quite large. Great for group dinners. Yum.
The price displayed on the shelf was $12.97, but the price in the system was different. I asked the cashier to check, and she called the manager, Jesse. Although I was correct and several staff members went to verify it, he refused to honor the displayed price and did not even apologize for the store’s mistake or for wasting my time.nnI have been a Costco customer for many years, and in other locations—and in virtually all retail stores—when such errors occur, they are typically acknowledged and corrected. However, in this case, he insisted that the customer should check and match the barcode for each product, which is not the customer’s responsibility in any store. Prices should be clearly and accurately placed in the correct location.nnI am very disappointed with the way this situation was handled, especially by the manager, and I will not be shopping at this location again. In my opinion, Costco should be more careful in selecting and training its managers.
If you want a dopamine hit in Canada, scrolling social media is the easy choice. But for me, it’s Costco.nThe first hour is the warm-up. You walk through rows of gadgets, toys, and big packs of toilet paper you don’t need. Everything is huge. Everything says, “You deserve this.”nBut the real star is the free samples. FREE. No shame needed. You walk from booth to booth like a king on a food tour. If nobody is lining up at a booth, maybe the supplier should think about what went wrong.nAt the end, you grab a $8 roast chicken or a $1.50 hot dog. Bring them home. Dinner done. You feel like a genius.nSo yes, heaven on earth is real. It’s called Costco. There is an entry fee, but don’t worry, you only pay once a year.nBut here’s the one thing they still can’t fix: the taste. The free sample tastes nothing like what you bring home. That tiny piece of cheese on a stick? Perfect. The same cheese from the shelf, cut in your kitchen? Just cheese.nFREE and PAID are two different tastes. Always have been. Always will be.
