Cornell University

About

Cornell University is an Ivy League university located in Ithaca, New York, USA

Story

Founded in 1865 and opened on October 7, 1868, Cornell has been described as the first American university. Co-founders Ezra Cornell and Andrew Dickson White wanted Cornell to be open to all students, regardless of sex, race, religion, nationality, or ability to pay. Their egalitarian and practical vision of higher education, revolutionary in 1865, still informs the guiding principles of the university in the 21st century.

Cornell’s combination of joint identities is unique among leading institutions of higher education—it is the federal land-grant institution of New York State, a private endowed university, a member of the Ivy League (or Ancient Eight), and a partner of the State University of New York. The university is dedicated to its original mission of accessibility and opportunity, outreach, and public service.

Mission

Cornell is a private, Ivy League university and the land-grant university for New York state. Our mission is to discover, preserve and disseminate knowledge, to educate the next generation of global citizens, and to promote a culture of broad inquiry throughout and beyond the Cornell community. We aim, through public service, to enhance the lives and livelihoods of students, the people of New York and others around the world.

Though it takes hours to here from New York City, but its beautiful scene and environment is quite fantastic. It will be a good choice to stay here to study not only because of its beauty but also because of its excellent academic environment.

As a graduate I'm deeply disappointed the university has become so money hungry by accepting so many international students. American kids are left to fend for themselves. I guess "diversity" these days means receiving tuition money in the form of pesos, euros, yen, pound, yuan, rupee, etc...

Amazing view of the catskills and the harboring land view of the college its self. The atmosphere is delighted with aromatic foods and local cuisine. Much advise to come and sunny day with short clothes , because it tends to get hot by the hour.
