Loved the walk-through tunnels and the surrounding area. A beautiful day made the views that much more spectacular. Some areas in the tunnel get dark, others have water dripping down and loose gravel so you shouldn't try to cycle thru. Take time to learn about the amazing history of this place. Definitely coming back with the family as it is a pretty flat walk not too long at all. Would highly recommend it for all ages, you need to see it at least once.
Great park showcasing the railroad history in British Columbia. Really cool tunnels to walk through. Bring a flashlight to ensure you can see where your walking as the ground is a little uneven in the tunnels. Very cool views of the river and canyon. Very short walk from the parking lot. Definitely worth a visit. Can get very busy on a hot summer day though.
A fun family walk back in time. The historic tunnels, the river and the rock formations of the canyon is awesome. Should come early as parking is limited. Kawkawa lake is a good location to stop, rest and unpack your food for a hungry stomach.
Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park Othello Tunnels Coquihalla Canyon Provincial Park, popularly called the Othello Tunnels is a provincial park located near Hope, British Columbia focused on the canyon of the Coquihalla River and a decommissioned railway grade, now a walking trail, leading eventually to Coquihalla Pass. Originally part of the Kettle Valley Railway, five tunnels and a series of bridges follow a relatively straight line through the gorge, which is lined with sheer, flat rock cliffs. In the early 90's, the Canadian Pacific Railway decided to connect the Kootenays with the southern coast of British Columbia, and it was decided that the best option was a route through the Coquihalla Gorge. Nowadays, the path has been restored as part of the Kettle Valley Railway Trail and no longer has any railway tracks. It is known for its gradual change in elevation. The location of the Othello tunnels near the convergence of several historic trails--the Hudson's Bay Company brigade trail, the Dewdney Trail and the Hope-Nicola Valley Trail--has both historical and recreational importance. These early trails assisted in the opening up of the province for settlement and resource extraction beginning in the late 1840s. The Hope-Nicola Trail is now a popular hiking route. The tunnels are the most important visitor attraction in the Hope area, representing both an economic and interpretive opportunity for the town of Hope. A destination for local and regional outdoors groups, the tunnels, park and trails are valued for the recreational opportunities they provide local citizens and tourists for viewing, walking, picnicking, photography and fishing. The site is also important for its extensive use by the film industry the most well-known film being 'First Blood' and for the establishment of visitor facilities by the Hope Chamber of Commerce through a Canada Works Grant prior to the area being designated a recreation area. Beautiful site. Always love going here. It was busy but was fairly spaced out between groups. Parking was a challenge, but still ok. It would be nice if there was a sign for the pathways after the tunnels. Would help to decide the length you want to go and if something is there you want to see.
Remember Rambo First Blood movie Sylvester Stallone I think in the 80's. Part of the movie was filmed here in Hope.,B.C. It has different sections of Tunnels & Railways. Gorge is stunning views the best time to see the raging water is in June or spring time when rain & ice melts. I've been here a few times but still my favorite stop. It's not far from the highway follow Othello Rd. only 2 minutes.
Really interesting scenery between the tunnels and the river . A couple of moderate level hiking trails. All in all a nice place to spend a day
The Othello tunnels are worth a stop if you are coming back or heading to the interior. Great history lesson and amazing scenery. It's a short flat walk and you won't be disappointed.

You can feel the ancient historical spirits as you wander through the area. A beautiful but short walk with history. Amazing views of the river. Clean facilities.
Beautiful scenery as well as an important part of Western history. U just feel different kind of relaxation walking through one of the best nature and man made wonders. So much greenery and the freshness of the air. The sound of the river bouncing off the canyon just makes the best no instrument music ever. I can literally spend all day there jus exploring woods and water and just listen to the water and nature's sounds. Simply just love it!!!
