Beautiful place. The museum is pretty cool and the lady staffing it was amazing. The walking trails are so nice.
This is a very small State Park in while it does have some nice pads and picnic areas the most interesting attraction to us is the copper culture Museum that helped us learn about a civilization in the area from over 7,500 years ago. The man working in the museum was very knowledgeable and friendly. He has been working with the project for over 40 years and gave our kids some souvenir ancient pieces of copper. The museum is small but has some Hands-On exhibits and lots of photographs. There is also Ascent of short videos to learn about the ancient culture.
I was not a huge fan of this state park. Sure, there is historical significance with the 4500 year old Native American cemetery, but it's not a destination worth traveling to if you aren't from more than 20 minutes away.
An interesting tourist attraction. The Copper Culture burial grounds are located here, which date back to over 5000 years. There is a trail that leads to a stone marker where the burial mounds are next to the river. Although you can find copper artifacts there, there is absolutely NO metal detectors allowed and detecting of any kind is strictly prohibited.
Hidden gem within 30 minutes of Green Bay. There is a little museum with volunteers that are very knowledgeable. The trails are very nice but at this time the Oconto river had cut some off due to the huge water level.
We learned so much stopping here. The man in the museum told us all about how copper got from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to the Oconto area. He was very knowledgeable and a good story teller. Afterwards we took a short hike by the river and through a meadow. This park doesn't have the beauty of the other state parks but is worthy of being a park because of its history.
Small state park, beautiful hiking through Prarie paths. No camping, bring mosquito spray on the trail by the river.
Great trails to hike and enjoy the views of river & creek and grass fields. Great history here also before the invasive europeans came and cannooks!
Small park. Some nice short trails to walk. During the summer the small museum is open. The park is about local history.
Disappointing. The maps showing locations of features were so sun faded they were impossible to view. The trails are poorly, if at all, marked. This is an important archaeological site and is poorly presented.
