Cook County Sixth Municipal District Courthouse

The worst court I have ever dealt with! I would give you zero star rating if I could. The clerks are unprofessional, unable to help with anything - they are just simply lazy and don't give a damn! I had an issue with an appearance that I filed in mid June of 2017 and by mid July 2017 it still hasn't been filed. When I called, a clerk told me she will try to locate it, sure she asked me about the name of the bank the check was issued from, but failed to ask about anything else. The next day she calls back and tells me she located the check. HOWEVER, she gave me the wrong check number. How dumb can you be! After NUMEROUS phone calls, it appeared that the mail was lost. Simply vanished! I have decided to stop the check (as it was never cashed) and file the appearance electronically. July 14, I check the docket one last time to see whether the appearance was filed or not. It was NOT. I filed it electronically. On July 20, I receive the file-stamped appearance - the one that was "lost" - after I filed the appearance electronically on July 14. What the heck are these people doing there!? NOTE TO THE MANAGER: Please TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES!!! Be efficient! Communicate!!! Start actually helping people and stop chatting about useless things as I heard it on the phone while being on hold! This courthouse and its employees are just pathetic and useless.

Would rate ZERO if possible. This court house is very UNPROFESSIONAL. NOBODY answers the phone, they transfer you and you just sit there forever until you eventually hang up because after an hour of waiting and no one answers why would you wait? No one does their job, no one helps. The people who work here are rude and ignorant. Avoid this place at ALL COSTS.

This place saved my life!!! They care, they help and want to see us succeed! God Bless Nadine Williams, Barb Cunningham, Patti Houlihan, Judge Darren Bowen and Judge Flaherty! There's so many more people that I haven't mentioned that have played such a huge role in my sobriety and getting my life on track! If it weren't for the staff @ Cook county, Markham and the rehab facilities i know I'd be the walking dead! I'm so grateful that I'm not! Thank you Markham & staff! Much love & respect!

I just decided to read the reviews before calling Markham Court House. Because of the poor reviews, I was preparing myself for a difficult time when calling. I am usually a professional worker when working with the public, but I definitely wanted to be super nice when calling to receive great service and to prove the court house was not as bad as the reviews. I work in a nearby community college and sometimes some of the students come with previous problems and plenty of barriers, but I am still professional and assist students regardless of their background and previous barriers in life. In my 30 years of service, only one student was very difficult and I really don't believe any approach would have made a difference that particular day; however, it was a 30 year period. I called Markham Court house, and waited 15 minutes for someone to answer the phone and when they did answer the phone, I said, "Hi, how are you doing today?" Her responds, "great". I said, ' I am looking to retrieve my birth certificate. She said wrong number and then hear silence. She transferred the phone call without me knowing. The call was transferred to more phone numbers to dial and/or a website to find out the answer. I hung up the phone, but determine to show up in person regardless of the poor phone service I had received to determine if it's the same services in person. Now, I can't wait to see the service that I will receive once I go there; however, I am going to take names of the workers who service me and will write a review based on services. I wonder if Dorothy Brown reads her own website regarding the reviews. We should send the reviews to her email address. Maybe she can call and find out if she gets the same services. What do you think? Will it make a difference? Did she read already? Where do you begin to change the system? Okay, as I told that I was going to visit Markham Court House, I received very good services; other then the chat between co-workers which helps the day go faster. I received good service the birth certificate department. I gave them four stars out of five stars. I cannot put an overall ratings because of the poor operating service; however, first impressions go a long way; therefore, I would re-train all phone operating services, until they do their jobs correctly. The clerks were very nice. We came a little late to pick up a copy of our marrige license and the young lady behind the desk took very good care of us.
