Congregation Beth-El was founded as a Conservative Synagogue in the Town of Mount Royal over 50 years ago.
We welcome you as a small, warm, accepting, egalitarian Conservative synagogue.
Congregation Beth-El recently celebrated its sixtieth anniversary, remaining proud of its rich history, dedicated and gifted spiritual leaders, committed and strong lay leadership, and its adherence to an unwritten and steadfastly-maintained policy of openness and welcome for any and all who wish to be part of the Beth-El Community. Congregation Beth-El, justly proud of being the first synagogue in Montreal to have introduced “Family Seating”, continues carrying on its leadership role in maintaining total egalitarianism with the complete integration and involvement of women in the daily liturgy as equal members of the minyan.
We practice our faith in participatory harmony, carrying on our services in joy and melody, bringing Jewish learning, life, goodwill and mutual support to our members, participants, and all our guests who enrich our congregation on Shabbat mornings or throughout the week.
Formal services are held daily. The calendar of the weekly service times, Shabbat candle lighting and Havdalah times are published in the Beth-El Calendar on our website. Beth-El maintains an ongoing program of Bar and Bat Mitzvah preparation, lecture series, cultural events, and social activities for its members and guests.
