This family-run shop is great! I'm French and on holiday in Sainte-Praxede, and I love it.nYou can find everything there; I was able to buy clothes and a small suitcase.nIt's clean and well-organized.
Interesting if you look carefully, however, the prices have increased significantly, especially the bicycles I saw in the store—100.00 to 150.00!!! They need a larger space and more room to maneuver with a stroller. The elevator is a plus for mothers, the elderly, etc. Also, the cashiers need better customer service training, and the play and book area should be completely revamped. I'm also surprised there aren't many clothes for ages 4 and up. Otherwise, it's generally quite clean, and it might be worth a visit.
Family Store or Flea Market?nnI've loved going there since I was little, but I'm very disappointed with what it's become... The prices have increased dramatically. They seem to have forgotten that these are donations they resell to help. The price isn't supposed to reflect their value... Prom dresses for $100, old game consoles for $125... It doesn't seem right to me. I also have a lot of trouble getting a smile from the employees... They're paid, unlike at other family stores where the employees are friendly and volunteer their time... In short, I almost feel bad going there now for fear of the cashier's blank stare, even though I used to love going there...
Seriously, I think he's taking advantage of donations to make money. A $250 ceramic cooktop seems expensive, especially since it was donated. If I do a quick calculation:nTravel to pick it up:n$25 for two guys to avoid any problems. 2 hours x 2 guys $15/hour = $30 + $30 + $25 = $85. That would be great.nnAnd then there are the used mattresses, wow, $80 to $180 each!nnListen, I go to Francis Campbell Furniture in Ste-Agathe, and for $200/single, $350/double, $400/queen, you're guaranteed it's brand new and packaged.nnYou have to remember that the people who come to the family thrift store aren't necessarily wealthy, so you have to help the next generation so you can continue to benefit from all the donations you receive.
