CIS Lenawee surrounds students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
Communities in Schools of Lenawee (CIS) is committed to creating a community where young people feel valued and are successful. Our mission is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. An evidence based model is used to provide a comprehensive range of community-based interventions that can help each student reach his or her potential. A school-based coordinator is positioned inside partner schools to work with school staff to identify students at risk of not graduating. He or she also addresses school and student needs and establishes relationships with local business partners, social service agencies and parent and volunteer organizations to provide necessary resources focusing on five basics every young person needs and deserves: A healthy start with the potential for a healthy future; A safe place to learn and grow; A personal one-on-one relationship with a caring adult; A marketable skill to use upon graduation; and A chance to give back to peers and community.
The mission of CIS Lenawee is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
