My boyfriend and I always promised ourselves we'd visit this café someday and I'm glad we finally did. We had the pleasure of trying out these desserts before Comfort Desserts Reimagined was founded the owner, Harith, is an old friend of ours and Harith's desserts are the best we've ever had. We knew we had to visit whenever we found ourselves in Evanston. His café specializes in bread pudding, pies, and cakes. The flavor profiles of the desserts are so specific and unique - you won't find bread pudding flavors like this anywhere else! My favorite bread pudding flavor is Goat Cheese & Cherry because the rich, decadent, and creaminess of the goat cheese compliment so well with the dark, rosey, sweet and slightly tart cherry. To my sadness but also I'm not surprised, they were sold out of this flavor when we got there in the afternoon but I still remember it from years ago and best believe, we are coming back to make sure we catch an early morning batch! This time, I went for my second favorite bread pudding flavor which is the "Four Chocolates" which is basically an elevated brownie and if you eat it at the café, it's served warm with caramel sauce and chocolate chips. I was so excited that I forgot to take a picture before devouring it. We took a slice of Hummingbird cake and Fresh Mango bread pudding to-go. The Hummingbird cake is such a wholesome cake. One bite and it's like you're having a slice of the south! The cream cheese frosting on top cuts through the nutty, earthy cake so perfectly without being overbearingly sweet. The Fresh Mango bread pudding is *chef's kiss* amazing and honestly it's tied with Goat Cheese and Cherry as my favorite flavor. I really appreciate the chunks of mango. My overall favorite things about all of the bread puddings are that a it's even tasty cold in fact sometimes I prefer eating it cold, and b I love the big chunks of bread that form at the top, creating a thick and hearty crust encasing the soft custard inside. It's what separates "Four Chocolates" from being considered a brownie. That crust and chunks of bread scream bread pudding and that's what I look for in a bread pudding. My dad used to make a janky but still delicious to me lol banana bread pudding with just ripped up pieces of old bread, banana, and custard honestly it probably wasn't even custard... I'm sure he just whipped eggs and sugar together and poured it in the pan... so it was like a glorified French toast? anyway... - and I always loved the big chunks of bread that formed the crust around the custard inside so Comfort Desserts Reimagined really brings a piece of home to me but better! The empty dessert cases at 5PM are a testament to how good these desserts are and the hospitality and prices are unmatched. If you're ever in Evanston, grab a slice of pizza from Gigio's then head down to Comfort Desserts Reimagined and satisfy your sweet tooth! Edit: Typo
OMG! The name says it all. Had a slice of the carrot cake at a 2-year-olders birthday party. It was so mind-blowing I had to go straight to this place to buy my own. When they say reimagine Reimagine desserts multiply that by 100. Highly recommend it.
Bread pudding being the focus of this wonderful establishment is unique and truly a stand-out dessert. I've had nothing but the best experience from being greeted upon entering, instructed on the flavor profiles of all the desserts and feeling welcomed to share in the joy of their delicious sweets. Every restaurant and shop should emulate the way this owner treats their customers. I would frequent this place based on how they serve their community alone, but their sweets round out the experience and make this a must-visit for anyone on the North Shore. So grateful to see such kind people running a business that I will continue to support for many years to come!
Dempster is easily turning into my favorite part of Evanston because of the unique and quality offerings. Was doing some grocery shopping across the street when my husband and I saw the bakery and stopped in for the first time. The owner’s charisma and genuine love for happy customers’ faces is a breath of fresh air. We heartily enjoyed our chicory coffee, cherry cider and lemon blueberry ricotta bread pudding; all wonderful recommendations by the staff. First impressions left us feeling excited to come back and already have plans to order a pie for when family visits. Comfort Desserts Reimagined has earned routine customers. Thank you!

The moment I walked in, I felt so warmly welcomed by Harrith and a regular told me that he uses seasonal ingredients with a changing menu, which I love and will return for. The cherry cider is so deliciously bright and sweet that I’d come for that alone let alone the amazing pies and bread puddings. The flavors are amazing!
My Dad said it was the best carrot cake he ever had. I enjoyed the gluten free key lime that comes in a kind of ceramic ramekin. So clever. So fun. Will be back.
Had a great experience coming in, really enjoyed the Hummingbird cake I had and the complimentary tea. The portion was huge, though-- next time I definitely need to bring my wife along to share with me :
Yes, this place has the best bread pudding, cheesecakes, and cakes out here in Evanston Illinois, and if you haven't tried them check it out, it would be one of the best desserts you have tried. I visited today December 21,2022. Psss it not my first rodeo
If Evanston ever raises the rent or runs this lovely man out of business like they’ve done with the rest of this city I’ll take it to city hall. Harrith is bound to become a staple in Evanston culture and his establishment is one of the happiest places I’ve been to in a long time. Not to mention the bomb desserts!!!
