Columbia Place, dba AvilaCare Inc , doesn't have the integrity or respect that they claim. The Administrator promised that they can help you with your dietary needs and fail to accommodate residents citing budget issues. Columbia Place cannot accommodate, doctor's orders, gluten free diets or vegetarian diets. Staff let the elderly walk around for days in urine soaked clothing. The Yugoslavian owner and Administrator tried repeatedly to over bill some of the residents. Staff has given the meds to the wrong patients or have forgot to give meds to patients. Staff repeatedly made fun of patients amongst themselves right in front of the patients. One resident suffered hypothermia due to neglect. I also have witnessed and experienced rudeness, abrasive behavior and verbal abuse from the staff. This has been my experience and observation as a paying customer. I have placed complaints with the Department of State.
The staff is very helpful and kind, especially Jayne and Denise. The home is kept clean and my son is very happy there.
DONT know why my review is giving four stars....This place is so unprofessional that I am going to file a complaint with the state...My friend lives there, they treat her so bad that she calls me weekly, crying. Supervisor Vicky, treated all of my concerns with contempt; at one point there was a person listening in on and audibly LAUGHING. My reasonable information regarding my friends situation was treated with reticent attitudes...At one point the superviser started telling me what sort of medical condition my friend has...which is against the law...HIPPA. I was hung up on three times for trying to tell staff that my friend whom has been there a year does not even know she has a social worker. THey would not avail themselves of any of the legitimate concerns I tried to voice...One worker denies my friend food.
The staff is lovely, the food smelled amazing. My uncle loves it here. It is clean and pleasant.
My Step Mom Maria REITLER and my Step Dad David REITLER live here and are treated by the Staff Members very rudely and they pick on my Step Dad David all the time and they talk about my Step Parents behind their backs.
