This is a great place with good fries and that dark gravy is killer. Highly recommend the bacon poutine its bacon crumble is awesome. Lots to choose from on menu. Little bit for everyone. Lots of parking. UPDATE: Closing for good after 50 years on October 23, 2022Food: 5/5
Has been a great spot in the nearly 25 years I've known them, sad to see a gem like this shut down. Happy retirement!Food: 5/5
Excellent fries. Poutine with bacon is great. Hubby loved his. Good value for money. Couldn't tell if gravy was gluten free so I just had fries. Hubby was disappointed that they were out of deep fried Mars bars. Excellent selection of goods to choose from.
This is one of the only places I can find fried class. This last visit they were a little over cooked but the fries were a good version of the standard French fry faire. I was there three times that week of my visit... kinda addicted to the friendly service and food.
Extremely unimpressed with the quality of this food. Inedible. Fries are not cooked. Don’t even want to talk about the gravy.
Been going to coburns for a least a decade or 2…always been my go to for poutine as their gravy really is the best. I recently switched to a different chip truck in town who has much larger portions for the price, are faster, and generally nicer. The reason I stopped going to coburns is because lately even when it is not busy waiting 20+ minutes for 1 medium poutine is unacceptable and then when I get it the fries are so hard I can’t eat them. Went today cause there was a line up at the other place and none at coburns…again I stress no line…the girl waited a good 5 minutes before even dropping the fries in the fryer…waited another 15 minutes for my medium poutine…got home and over half the fries were so hard I couldn’t cut them with a knife…half way through eating it I just gave up and tossed it…not waiting my money here anymore…if they were consistent good that would make it ok…if I go 5 times 3 out of the 5 the fries aren’t edible…
Decent portion size, but the poutine is not very good.
Fantastic poutine. Layered gravy and cheese all throughout the fries. Best poutine in the area
We've been going to Colbornes for over 20 years now. At one time they definitely were the best in the area. However over the last year we've been very disappointed on several occasions. I must say that there is at least one lady that always does an amazing job when cooking. Just last week my husband and I went to get fries and I asked the young lady at the counter that our fries please be fresh and not reheated. The owner was actually there at the time and one of the girls said to him that I come in all the time demanding fresh fries. That is far from the truth, I live a distance from Pembroke but come in every couple of weeks. I have asked on a few occasions, depending on the person doing the cooking, that we please get fresh cooked fries. This doesn't seem unreasonable to me! The owner said to me that his fries are always fresh. I explained that what I meant was that we did not want fries that had been cooked over several times, they are too greasy. He was so rude, told me that lots of places do the same thing and that if I didn't like it I could take my business elsewhere. That is no way to talk to an 80 year old woman, not to mention to any customer! I wasn't being rude or shouting or swearing I simply asked for fresh fries. I had a valid point in not wanting fries that were cooked over multiple times. I'm asking for fresh fries not overcooked fries soaking in grease. IF any customer, particularly a long time customer has a complaint then management needs to listen and take it seriously not get defensive and be rude. That is disgusting! I'm so very disappointed in this behavior! If you go to Colborne's ask them for fresh fries and don't take no for an answer. I've never done a review before but felt others needed to know this and so does the owner.
Blaghh. The poutine wasn’t that good. Had many “ end” Chrispy dry pieces! & The prices were sky high!!! 10 pickle chips for $8.00, that’s basically a large pickle for $8.00 plus taxes. Crazy!
