Cobourg Fire Department

Feels strange to be rating the Fire Dept., but we had an issue in our building. Someone's smoke detector was blaring, smoke and stink coming out into the hall. No one answered despite pounding on the unit door. Due to the laws, our building Mgr's hands were tied, not allowed to use master key to open door. Her solution was to pull the fire alarm and let the FD enter the unit. From the moment the alarm was pulled until we could see the FD's arrival on scene was 19 minutes, and they are under 3km away. It turned out that the occupant of that unit had experienced a serious medical event, I am unsure of that resident's disposition other than no one has seen her here since. I think 19 minute response time is somewhat beyond inadequate. Thankful to have services of a local FD, but I hope that I personally never need their services. I hope there is training and constant improvement happening in our, and all emerg svcs.
