Awesome owner, with all sorts of great stories to go alongside the varied inventory of used film and digital cameras. Best part is you never know what kind of neat gear he has, and there's plenty to look through. While it is possible to get gear online for cheaper, I'd greatly prefer to not only properly know what condition the gear I'm getting is in, but also support a local man who is passionate about photography
So very sorry to hear of Wally's passing. I'm from Winnipeg and whenever I visited my daughter in Edmonton I HAD to visit Wally sometimes before I went to see my daughter! Don't tell her though!. Always bought something of interest and never left without having a great conversation with Wally. A true gentleman whom I will greatly miss.
Wally sold me my first DSLR when I was 18. He gave me an amazing deal and let me pay it off in three payments. He was a truly wonderful human and I owe my love of photography to him and his kindness. So sorry to hear of his passing.
An absolutely gem in the city for anyone passionate about photography. Wally, the owner, is one of the nicest and most interesting people you'll meet. He's been doing this for over 35 years and holds so many stories! The shop showcases a lot of older film cameras and some newer cameras with a wide variety of accessories.
Been coming here for years. Wally is awesome. It's a place to visit, talk cameras and hear stories about the old days. Always something new that's old and deals that come and go but don't expect thrift store prices. I don't mind spending a few bucks to help keep the doors open. Wally is up there in age, each day he opens shop is a miracle and should be celebrated.
So I went to Classic Camera to pickup a lens for my old Canon Digital Rebel. Found a nice used 18-55mm 3.5-5.6 but, I ended up talking to Wally for nearly three hours, stories of Poland, WW2, the ferry to North America, old photo developing tricks. Listening to Wally beautifully craft stories of his fascinating past were such a treat. If you do visit the store, and I highly encourage you do, plan to stay awhile, listen and learn.
I would love to spend some money there but the price of nikon 35mm 1.8 G is 350$ and its well used. In the any other store brand new starts from 197 to 250$, same goes for the old vintage lenses be ready to pay at least double of the market price. This place is for you if you have an extra cash and you would like to donate half of the price to the store owner, otherwise it is nice place to visit.
I adore this place! So many old relics from the past, and is a pleasure to browse even if you're not buying. Although, some people may not like the very crowded nature of the store, but that's simply because he has a LOT of product. I've purchased several cameras here, including a Mamiya RB67, and a Royal Robot 36 for an EXTREMELY good price!. He also buys used camera gear.
Hello all you fellow shutterbugs. I am Wally's daughter, and unfortunately, my dad's film of life has taken it's last picture on earth. We are in the middle of developing a new plot for the store, but for now the store will be closed until further notice. I hope you enjoyed the many stories and memories of my dad.
There are lots to look at. Not really a place to browse but you go in knowing what you looking for. There is not really any organization, I guess he just knows where things at. Definitely not a place to find bargain, got quoted two vintage lenses just over 300$ and I picked up the same lenses on ebay for 50$ within Canada that afternoon. I do know lenses and I would loved to support local business but I do not have money to burn.
