Beautiful building inside, nicely airconditioned and a good array of books. Even the staff are very friendly and helpful. Now I know why the last part seems to be the case. Because they seem to turn a blind eye to the raucous social groups that sprout up there playing an array of board games and having loud, merry chatter within their groups. My goodness, it was not unlike recess time at a WA school. The staff turn a blind eye to those groups and maybe that accounts for their disposition as they don't have to confront the rule breakers in a library. Just a few metres away in the library, were a bunch of young teens doing research on the library supplied computers and not a peep could be heard from them. Head librarian, it seems that some control needs to be put in place for errant users!
I thought it was a social etiquette to stay silent so that everyone can sit in peace and read. But, apparently, not at Clarkson library. Today, a group of older adults were playing a variety of board games. They were loudly laughing, talking...their mobile phones were ringing.... the rest of us had to put up with their rudeness. Shame on staff for not reminding them to respect library rules.
Amazing library. Swift to open a new membership. Such friendly staff. Loved the library. A-mazing
Play group is on Mondays Rhyme time is on Wednesday Playing chess is on Wednesday
Zero stars if I could. This was the loudest library I have ever been to. Would classify it as a civic centre more than a library. Sewing groups and scrabble groups meeting up and taking in the middle of the library. Children screaming. I enquired about using a meeting room but was told they are not for that purpose. No designated quiet area is really disappointing for those trying to study or those with sensory issues. Won't go back.
It was good to have the library open again. Very quiet though, not many people there today. Was able to borrow enough books to keep me happy for 3 weeks.
This library caters to folks of all ages. There is enough room for computers. Plenty of space and books for little ones. A variety of books/digital media for both YA and Adults. They also offer activities for both young and old. I like that Clarkson library is spacious too, and the staff are friendly, gracious and helpful.
Loved Clarkson Library and especially loved being able to borrow recent best sellers. As an avid reader, no problem finishing a book in a week!! I especially like being able to browse fiction A to Z not genders. I hate a book being slotted into a gender which sometimes means an authors books are split up into different places.
Great library. Everything so close to hand! Can get quite busy.
Only issue-not open Sunday???? I think they should open all weekends when parents aren't working, It should be available for all parties, not just people who don't work all week
