Date of visit: Saturday June 18th, 2022 8:00 PM after a long arduous hike through the Bruce Trail at Crawford lake, we were famished. Looking for somewhere that had some good grub and a patio without being crowded was our goal. As we drove towards Rockwood we remember a place we passed before but have never been to - Chompin' at the Bit Bar & Grille. We asked to be seated on the patio and the friendly hostess advised that we could but that anyone who sat there today - came inside. We braved it - and it turned out the patio is between 2 buildings - and is caught in a wind tunnel. It wasn't bad - but I understand why people left. but NOT US> We ordered the special sandwich - a grilled chicken sandwich and Fish tacos. Both were very good. full of flavour and satisfying. I ordered fries and other person ordered carrot soup the fried are nothing to write home about but the carrot soup was delightful and flavourful. The server - was very young - possibly her first job - but she was very attentive, friendly, engaging, and a pleasure Having never been here before - I didn't know what to expect - and I know several people from Rockwood or areas around rockwood and no one ever recommended this place to us before. I am not sure why - because it was a perfect spot to enjoy dinner. In addition to some classic fare - they also have some elevated meals - the menu isn't huge, but it has enough to keep you coming back. Chompin at the Bit will be included in our future dining options. Prices are also very reasonable. Tables are spaced out nicely - so you are not bumping into others. The atmosphere is very relaxed - it seems to draw a nice diverse crowd - different age groups and stripes.
Not enough stars for this restaurant. The service quick and on point. I barely half finished a drink at the bar and my take out order was up!!! Reaĺly good value for the delicious food!!Delicious potato bacon soup, fresh house salad with balsamic dressing to go with my fresh crabcakes! The other entree spicy chicken burger and sweet potato fries! What a hidden gem!! I dropped in spontaneously for take out and it will be a regular haunt. I want to make a reservation and eat in next time love the environment!
Good food, friendly people. Menu should please the whole family. Burgers are named after horses but don't be shocked, they're beef burgers not horsemeat. The patio has been done up very nicely, the inside looks really nice. This is a great place to come out to.
First time there. Food was very good. Service was excellent. Good vibe. Rockwood is fortunate to have a place like this.Food: 5/5
Really enjoyed the food tonight. We got mozzarella sticks, jerk sandwich with sweet potato fries and wings with the maple sauce. Everything was tasty, flavorful and fresh. Only reason for not five stars is I would have loved to see more cocktail options and non-alcoholic drink options.Food: 4/5
Always love Chompin At The Bit!!! Owner is super friendly and great too have a conversation with! And the staff are beyond amazing! Fantastic food, great atmosphere, and just an amazing place for date nights, family nights out, or if you just want to go for a pint! You won’t be disappointed!!! I promise!!
After a long drive we popped in on a whim, starving. My god. We weren't prepared for the best nachos I've ever had. EVER. The peach cocktail was fantastic, I could easily drink a bucket of it, tap it into my veins. The staff were so friendly and fun, they chatted with us and joked around as we tend to do. Very welcoming considering we clearly weren't local. My friends tacos were phenomenal but my nachos were...perfect. the parchment caused the cheese to crust, it was layered perfectly, the flavour of the meat was robust. I'm from Vaughan, my friends from Hamilton,, and we would drive that way specifically for another dining experience here. Well done team!!
First time at this restaurant and won't be the last!! Food was spectacular, great atmosphere and our waitress was amazing. So friendly and a great sense of humor as we were having a bit of a family reunion.Food: 5/5
NOT IMPRESSED!! I'm a local resident and attended at 8:30pm with 12 buddies on a Wednesday evening for their wing night special .. Some how our server, Tess, missed a member of the group's order and then told us they weren't able to process his order because the system is shut down.. When we appealed to speak to a Manager, we were instructed that there wasn't one available as they went home early - and, when we then attempted to escalate & speak to the cook/kitchen staff - he blew us off immediately complaining, saying that he was overwhelmed with current orders and that he should have left by 9pm... When we voiced that disappointment to the cook / kitchen staff, their response was, "So be it".... Finally, when it came time to pay the bills, for the group member who wasn't able to order any food, they messed up his bill and charged him $31.25 for his glass of ginger ale - it was corrected properly. However, they didn't even offer him a good faith / customer service gesture of a complimentary glass of ginger ale for $3.25... VERY, Very, very disappointing experience and WONT BE BACK!! The Red Harp in Action has much better customer service & overall experience than Chompin in Rockwood. ******Zero stars*******
Friendly people and casual atmosphere. Great food and cozy patio! Doesn’t disappoint.
