Tune up the car before heading to the gym, put together some sandwiches and brew espresso and steam up a latte at the local cafe, make music, or produce your own play or newscast live at the studio. Open the door to adventure on the 1.5 acre Prairie! Climb hills and logs, weave through a willow tunnel, wade in a stream, build a dam, wander the prairie grass maze, and dig for dinosaur bones. Be careful not to wake up Mama and her baby boy Max, the only full size, permanent, animatronic T. rex in the United States.

We are visiting my SIL from Chicago. We’ve been to children’s museums in Chicago, Fort Collins, Madison, Eau Claire, and this is the best children’s museum I’ve been to. My kids are 5, 3, 2, 4mos and it was fabulous for all of them. The cafe food was decent for museum food. 10/10 recommend this museum for anyone with kids!
So much for kids to do, and adults! We enjoyed every room we entered and our granddaughter didn't want to leave!
Fantastic place to visit. The cloud climb was my grandsons favorite, but he enjoyed himself.
Since the weather was not cooperating and my daughter has a membership, the grandkids and I spent almost 4 hours at the museum. What a great place for kids of all ages! I had a one year old and a 7 year old and there were even young teenagers there enjoying themselves. I can't wait to go back and explore outside and take even more time. If you haven't been there yet, grab your kids and go!
Wonderfully created for kids! One unique feature that this museum has is the working phones between businesses. Kids can call each other, in addition to the post office that has letters and packages that can be delivered to each business. Kids can actually take part in a world that was designed for them. Farm to grocery production, veterinary, mechanics, TV broadcasting and a diner. Easy to spend 1/2 to full day here with inside and out activities. Price is very reasonable and a food area is on site. Well done South Dakota!
