Tune up the car before heading to the gym, put together some sandwiches and brew espresso and steam up a latte at the local cafe, make music, or produce your own play or newscast live at the studio. Open the door to adventure on the 1.5 acre Prairie! Climb hills and logs, weave through a willow tunnel, wade in a stream, build a dam, wander the prairie grass maze, and dig for dinosaur bones. Be careful not to wake up Mama and her baby boy Max, the only full size, permanent, animatronic T. rex in the United States.

This is a smaller children's museum--one floor only. Lots of rooms for play and pretend, but I wouldn't bring a child who is older than 10. My 8-year-old daughter was ready to go after an hour. I will say people who were inside other customers were quite kind and helped kids clean up and put things away, so that made it a better experience for everyone.
I think you get a good bang for the buck here. With 4 kids, I know it can get expensive trying to have a fun outing with your kids. It’s $11.50 for 1 and up. Wish it was a little cheaper for younger kids but all in all, compared with many things now days it’s reasonable.nnThere’s a fair amount to do between inside and outside. You can easily kill a few hours here, great way to get kids off electronic and burn off some energy.
Amazing place for the young and the old! Our kids had a blast in each of the many rooms pretending to do things like fixing cars, taking care of animals, farming, shopping, making sandwiches, painting, and much more! Everyone really enjoyed the giant water table room! The staff is super friendly and it is a great value. If we lived in Brookings we would have a season pass for sure!
It was really nice and my kids had so much fun. It was so interactive and they got to do a lot of pretend with the different interactive areas. Their favorite part was probably the water area.
As someone who as visited countless times, I’m very thankful such an amazing place exists in Brookings. Much outdoor area including dinosaurs and fishing! when weather permits. The inside exhibits offer great variety, with something for everyone. The staff is always friendly - my favorite part!nnI also like the design with one main corridor which helps parents keep track of multiple kiddos while allowing them to explore various rooms simultaneously.
