The food was good. Not as good as Rosco's in LA but good. But the service wasn't that great. We we're waiting for the other half of our party to arrive so they didn't seat us right away. They eventually seated us because my mom wanted some coffee but they did not refill her coffee and they didn't have hot tea, not even hot water. It seemed liked they were rushing us out. Sorry, I didn't get a chance to take pictures of our food.
Food is so amazing! I ordered the Monique with a side order of home fries. Best home fries I’ve had in my life! Waffle batter was flavorful and thick, so yummy. Employees are attentive, great service. Told my friends we need to come for dinner! I’d love to try their mac and cheese, corn bread and so much more. Recommend, 10/10
Busy Saturday afternoon. 10-minute wait for a table. Service was brisk. The food was hot. I wanted coffee but I was informed that they did not have coffee service at the moment and they were looking for a new vendor. Overall the food hit the spot my waffles were a little tough around the edges though.Food: 4/5
Food is excellent!!! Service was amazing!! Atmosphere was relaxing, wonderful old school music. Food was prepared quickly, waitress was very nice and attentive. Bathrooms were extremely clean. Overall outstanding ambience. I will frequent this establishment every time I’m in town.
Vacation in Chicago, had to stop at Chicago's Home of the Chicken & Waffles. It's a soul food spot owned by a Black Man. Food tastes as if his Momma or Grandmother taught this man how to cook. food. Cool atmosphere. No complaints. For Dessert try the peach cobbler a la mode. .
We had a pleasant experience at the restaurant. There were some downfalls on the service side, cause it was very slow, and we waited 50 minutes till the server realized that she messed up our order, and it didn’t reach the kitchen. And in the meantime, no refill of coffee or other interactions. Against that the food was quite good. I liked the greens the most, as they were heavily and good seasoned. The Chicken was perfectly fried, just the waffle could have had some more flavor - it fell flat against the other dishes. Also the cornbread was extremely dry, some little moisture would soften it up and be more pleasant to eat, then just picking up dry crumbs. If the service and minor food issues are fixed, the restaurant is definitely up for a five star rating.
The food used to be great here but my chicken, grits and waffle didn't come out hot which makes me think the plate was sitting for awhile and then they added the eggs with cheese which was good. The chicken didn't have that great seasoned taste it used to.Dine in: YesTakeout: Yes
My mom and I went after running errands and both had chicken wings...mine with waffles and hers as the dinner which came with 3 sides and I also ordered a grilled salmon dinner to go. The food was very good, especially the wings. The only think that caused me concerned was that the menu price and and the receipt price the menu said there was a difference but not how much per item, that was very confusing. Outside of that the food won't disappoint.
I had the fried chicken wings and waffles and it was so delicious. I wish the waffle would’ve been a Belgian waffle instead of a regular waffle. The fried chicken wings were so good I got some more to go. I tried my friends Mac and cheese, greens, red beans and rice and banana pudding and it was all delicious, good southern cooking. I’ll definitely be back when I visit Chicago again.
I ordered the grilled catfish dinner and also the chicken white dinner. I would've given 5 stars but I ordered my chicken smothered and received unsmothered . Overall thank God the chicken breast was fried so amazingly. It wasn't dry at all . The red beans and rice taste just like how my grandmother would make hers. Definitely not popeyes. The greens were OK just didn't like cooked stems. The macaroni was ok too wasn't creamy enough but still good. Overall will be ordering again.
