The most amazing course in the Chicagoland area and definitely top 25 in the country. If this was the first golf course in the country, I don't see how there are any other courses that aren't as cool. Should be used as a design template. This is a purely original creation and deserves to be placed on any bucket list. CB McDonald at his finest.

What else is there to say other than this is one of golf's greatest places, being the first 18 hole golf course in the US. The course hasn't changed much from its roots. A classic Macdonald golf course, it's just a historic and prestigious place. Almost all of Chicago's courses are parkland style but this one is a links course. Holes are straight away with fairways generally flat or sloping in one gradual direction, typically away from the wind, making shaping shots important. Fairways are wide and generous but guarded by a lot of bunkers and if you go slightly off the rough you'll be looking for your ball in knee high fescue. The green complexes are gigantic with lots of slope in them, the biggest defense to the golf course. Edges of the greens are squared off and generally if you miss short the ball rolls back at least 20 yards leaving a difficult chip or putt back. The clubhouse is historic and has one of 5 original US Amateur trophies. If you have a chance to play this historic course, drop what you're doing and go.
Worked here for three years in high school and college. I still talk about how amazing it was to play here each week. Fair, fun and golf at it's purest
I was there with my husband, I asked an employee where the rest room was, He was very rude and seemed very bothered with me. Come to fine out he is the chef Jeff G. Everyone else was very nice but I will not be dining there any time soon.
I had the fortune to play with a member whom is kind and full of knowledge for the games history. To make the round better my Father in law was able to play also. Round I will never forget even with a generous “107” on the score card. Very grateful

Chicago Golf Club, one of the five founding members of the USGA, is home to a championship course that ranks with the world's best. Here you will find one of the USA's most admired open parkland layouts, with an outstanding array of excellently crafted and challenging holes. Golf courses don't get any better than this. However, this is a private course generally playable only by members and their guests.
Enjoyed around of nine holes enjoyed it had a beautiful time so relaxing
