We got married at Cheekeye Ranch this summer and while it is an incredible venue, it is going through some growing pains. We signed a contract in 2019, and had to postpone throughout the pandemic and they were very understanding and worked with us to solidify a new date, with an understandable fee increase. There was some breakdown in communication throughout the process, leading to some unexpected charges that were removed once our planner discussed it with the owner. There is inadequate drainage for the tent set up and they had laid down wooden boards to try to mitigate the water, which ended up leading to a completely mud covered floor and many ruined shoes. The yurts and accommodations were fantastic - our friends and family enjoyed being able to stay together for the weekend. We also had Wild Haven Glamping tents set up, which were fabulous beside the beautiful river. There is now a washroom with showers available, but it is solar powered and because it was a cloudy weekend in June our guests reported there was no power in the bathrooms to get ready and we had to bring in an additional washroom trailer for our guests. All in all it was a beautiful venue for a wedding and I know it will only continue to improve with time!
We had a great time at Cheekye Ranch and we will definitely go back for glamping again. We booked a Big Alpha yurt and it was prefect. The yurt was very comfy with heater, kitchen, bedrooms, and bathroom. Also, there was a bbq machine outside the yurt and it’s under covered, so that I could bbq while it was raining. Furthermore, the yurt was located next to the river and the view was beautiful. At the ranch, there were a lot of horses and they were very friendly. The horses welcome us when we walked around the ranch; they would come over and let you pet them. Moreover, my 6 yrs old daughter joined an equine experience with Vanessa and she had so much fun learning how to take care and ride a horse. We were very happy to stay at Cheekye Ranch and this trip was a memorable experience for me and my family.
We stayed in the Little Alpha yurt the middle of the 3 yurts and it was fantastic! Check in was easy as we followed instructions that had been emailed to us before arrival. The views are great, and it’s very calm and peaceful. We had a fantastic sleep, the bed was really comfortable and we could hear the river flowing. There is a spacious deck area and BBQ over looking the river. We sat at the communal campfire on both nights and chatted with some other guests! There’s a portable toilet behind the yurts and an outdoor sink for washing up. Overall we had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend it!
BEWARE OF THIS AS A WEDDING VENUE: I am Sea to Sky Wedding Planner of 10+ years, and I had clients select this wedding for their dream wedding this summer. Unfortunately, the venue is not properly set up to execute weddings and in order to execute their wedding for 100 guests, the client had an enormous of additional, unforeseen expenses. In my opinion, a basic necessity for executing a wedding is power. This venue does to provide access to power and you need to run the entire thing on generator power. This adds a layer of complication and expense that most wedding clients are not prepared for. Access to fresh water is not provided. When clients are getting married in a field nestled in the beautiful mountains of Squamish surrounded by some of the freshest water in the world, the fact that clients need to bring in their own water is absurd. If the rental fees were more affordable, I might be able to over look past the rustic nature of this venue, unfortunately the cost of renting this venue is one of the highest in the valley. The rustic nature of this venue means that it also comes with old bench seating and tired picnic tables, and if you don't wish to use them, be prepared to open your wallet once again as you will be charged $400 to remove them. Finally, access to the venue for site visits was very difficult, and given the complications of this venue, not in line with what is necessary to execute properly. Access to the venue for vendor setup is also difficult during the wedding, less in their control, as you have to drive through the entire property to access to wedding site. I have provided a 3 star and not less because I believe the work that they are doing a Second Chance Ranch is amazing and I don't want this to affect their rating to that end. As a wedding venue, I will never book this one again and will advise future clients to look at other, better serviced, better organized and more supportive venues in the Sea to Sky regions as we have many to choose from.
We loved our stay. In a campsite, close to the roaring river. Horses lazing around in the lawn, munching on treats while going on a walk with a handler, and greeting us in the morning. Wonderful views. The whole experience was serene. I hope for a communal bath house someday, instead of only a port-o-potty. :
I thoroughly enjoyed visiting this amazing place! The hosts were friendly and relaxed and the setting is idyllic. The yurts have very comfortable beds and a close-up experience of the river either from the deck or down at the communal fire pit. It is clean, with 360 degree beauty as close as the opening of your door. My favourite part was listening to the river through the window at night as I drifted off to sleep. There is easy access to horseback riding, trails, Fergie's cafe no takeout within walking distance, river rafting, and it's a 10 minute drive to downtown Squamish. Remember to bring flashlights, a sweater for the evening, and a thirst for adventure. Loved my visit and can't wait to go back!
Our visits to the ranch have been stellar: trail riding and relaxing by the Cheakamus River, splendid yurt accommodations, warm and friendly interactions with Kris and her team. Hope to be back again soon.
My brother and I had a great experience on the guided horseback trail ride! Hannah was great, and her experience was apparent and made everyone feel at ease. Will definitely be back!
We had a great time in the Tantalus Yurt at Cheekye Ranch. The king size bed was very comfy, and our huge deck had an incredible view of the river and mountains, decked out with a BBQ with burner, a picnic table, and comfy lounge chairs. The communal fire pit was also great as a space to warm up and get to know fellow campers socially distanced during COVID-19, of course. The washing & water station was also a handy helpful touch. Greg greeted us upon our arrival and was friendly and helpful always. It was wonderful to be among the mountains, trees, and of course, the horses, donkeys, and pigs of the ranch. We look forward to coming back!
Our wedding here was a fantastic time - they provided lots of flexibility for us to set up whatever we wanted, we had some people camping and some people in the yurts, and we loved the sauna. They maintain the landscaping very well for some beautiful photos!
