Gabby Robinson was the worst health care provider I have ever experienced. I watched her verbally assault my grandmother and it brought me to tears. She has done nothing but belittle us and nobody seems to care. Please for the love of god get rid of this women. Some people should not be in health care.
AgeCare Malaspina has taken care of my mom for the past 6+ years. She was very happy there until she recently passed peacefully there. She really liked the staff and they liked her and cared for her well. She loved her bubble baths, initially enjoying the activities later she became disinterested, and communicating with staff. During my visits I would periodically take her out or have lunch there, food and snacks were good. Thank you all for focusing on the wellbeing of our elderly.
My mom just moved into Malaspina Chartwell Gardens in early July of this year, in an emergency situation, after being evicted with 30 days notice from her assisted living facility in Courtenay. From the first conversation with staff when she was offered her room, to now, staff have been nothing short of wonderful to work with. I live on the other side of the country and got to visit in October for the first time. It is a beautiful facility and all of the staff were extremely friendly, many of whom went out of their way to come and introduce themselves after many phone conversations over the months.nMy mom has Alzheimers and is in the memory care unit and I only have amazing things to say so far about all of the staff that I deal with there on a regular basis. Communication is excellent and I truly feel like they care very much for their residents. I feel very blessed to have my mom here. Being so far away, it gives me great peace of mind.
They have two parking lots to park in, yet staff park alongside the road and take up the little space the three apartments have to park. Staff are rude to people living in the apartments and feel entitled over the neighborhood, even going so far as complaining about private conversations they hear when they pass by. The parking situation is a joke - they should be required to build a sidewalk around the entire property, but skirted this by saying they are going to be further developing. That was seven years ago…people with walkers are forced to walk on the road or cross the street without a crosswalk to use the finished sidewalk out front the apartments.
My sister and I moved our mum into Chartwell Malaspina last week and we have nothing but wonderful things to say about the Chartwell staff and and the facility itself! Our mum was in Nanaimo Hospital and was ready to be transferred to a care home, and so we were doing our best to find one for her. Timing, luck, perseverance and guidance from our mum's doctor, long term community case manager, social worker and liaison and the Chartwell staff made it all happen within a week just before I was due to return to England, and I'm very thankful and appreciative to say the least!! Chartwell is beyond what I expected and imagined a care home to be, and the staff are phenomenal at what they do and how they take such great care of their residents. The facility is clean, cheerful, welcoming right from being greeted by Donna at reception to meeting the lovely nurses, kitchen staff, porters, maintenance staff, etc. and speaking with Greg, Leslie and Lydia in management!! Thank you so much for being such a fantastic place and for being so reassuring to my sister and I. I have returned to England with a sense of relief knowing that our mum is being well cared for. It will take time for her to settle and we know she will under your wings to protect her. I just spoke with her a few minutes ago and she was finishing her breakfast with a friend. Wonderful! Thank you so much, Chartwell Malaspina!! I look forward to seeing my mum and all of you soon!! xx
