There is no hotel. This is a camping location. It is a nice park. This time of year, the sites are empty, except on weekends. We were here Sept 28-Oct4. They allow dogs but only in certain areas. I just didn't understand why the dogs couldn't walk down some of the roads. I get areas of no dogs for camping, but the roads? Had a great time for the last camping trip of the year.
Excellent place to chill! This campground has everything! From a huge lake to hiking trails to games and activities. It also has top notch facilities! The washrooms are super clean, the park office staff are very helpful and friendly. You can't find a more pleasant experience than this! I'll definitely go back.Service: 5/5
We just used the beach for the day, didn't stay overnight. The beach is very nice: clear and "warm" temperature july-august, easy to get used to. There are lifeguards if you stay near the centre of the beach, in an area very well marked. You can also use the rest of the beach, which is quite long and can accommodate a large number of people. Just 1.5h away from Ottawa, it's a nice alternative to a 3-h drive to Sand Banks, with comparable water quality, better services there are lifeguards, also ice cream and better-kept washrooms, but no dunes. It is busy, and very family oriented - if you mind the noise of kids playing, walk to one of the corners of the beach, where there's way less people but no lifeguards. There's a day-use fee of $14 tax included per person, charged at the entrance. There's also a second beach to the east - "Place de L'est", just across the Riviere de la Petite Nation, outside of this park and with a different access, but we haven't tried it yet.
About 90 mins from Ottawa so a bit of a longer drive, but very much worth the effort. Amazing sandy beach, lots of shaded space for groups to set up, activities for kids, good amenities re: bathroom etc… will definitely be back!Service: 5/5
We were a group of 9 families from Ottawa 2-hours drive to get to the park, visited Lac-Simon on Canada Day, 01st of July 2023. We all entered the park by paying the park fees for the day access to the Beach and Playground, etc. around 10.30am -11am at the gate. This is an annual trip we make to Lac_Simon for Canada Day and we always made wonderful memories, unfortunately not this year due to bad weather. This year Jul-1st, all day was filled with heavy raining, thunderstorms, and Tornado warnings, which led the park staff/team to prohibit us using the beach, the playground and we ended up staying inside our vehicles. Site was flooded where we were situated our things. We waited till the weather gets better to leave the park. We were all soaked wet with all our things and gears. On our way out of the park, one of the gate staff advised us that we would be able to request a credit to access the park of a different day, due to this unexpected weather and advised us to meet the staff in the park office. We all headed to the office and explained our situation and was hoping for a friendly favorable answer while we were standing there all soaked wet, Manger Vanessa and her assistant were very rude and yelling and screaming at us without even paying attention to our situation and challenged us to complaint wherever or to whomever we like. This was very shocking to all of us. This is not the first time we were visiting this site nor had this type of an ill treatment from any of the staff. Past visits were always very friendly, helpful staff and that made us visit this location again. We can provide the copies of our receipts and evidence of our visit. We are requesting to take corrective actions of this type of behavior from the staff, when were already facing a disastrous situation and provide us with alternate solution/options to have a better experience, not yelling or screaming when we are simply there to explore our options. We made a complaint through the SEPAQ website, which ended up going to the manager Venessa and she again simply had a chance to show all her poor customer service all over again. This is why she was so confident and challenged us to make our complaint , knowing it’ll come back to her. This should not happen to anyone visiting any park with their families and friends expecting the best nature experience, yet being harassed by the managed of the site. Not a good example for any junior staff works under their supervision. Setting up a very bad culture. Treat everyone nice and kindly. Our lives are very short to deal with these situations like these.
Rented a yurt for 4 days and 3 nights. Normally we tent. Last minute decision. Very clean, all you need is your food and clothes. Bed clothes too. Pillows. Nice majestic trees in the middle of nowhere. Get your groceries in Sheneville. Corner store very expensive but if you're not going to drive 20 minutes back, worth the extra. There is no privacy when at your campsite. It rained 2 of our 4 days. The beach was a KIDS DREAM LAND. Just not my tween. We spent most of our time at the farmers lake 5 minutes away. Fishing and walking the trails Why? Peace and Quiet. Birds, the wind and trees. When we got back to the campsite all we heard was really loud noise. People having a good time. There's a curfew but voices carry and we could hear from far. Loved the yurt, the surrounding just not the non private sites and the constant noise. 7/10 if your kids are younger good place to visit. Staff are very helpful and polite. Merci a vous.
I've been to this place when I was a kid. I enjoyed it then, I enjoyed it now. I have vivid memories of where I played, it was nostalgic to go back here. The camping spots are very nice, the rules are fair and the service is great. The space you have is generous. Babies crying late at night of early in the morning can be somewhat unfun, but not intolerable. The quality of the beach area is great, very vast. Plenty of space for the whole family. There's a lot of stuff for renting as well. And it's especially nice at night, far from the big citites, since the stars in the night sky are very visible. Overall, I would certainly go back there again. Trully a great place.
You have more neighbours than in Montreal. Why rent anything there when you can simply camp in a parking on Décarie? Disgusting. Never. Again. I feel like they have stolen our vacations. This is false publicity. 100%. Don't do it.
Am camping here today and tomorrow. The clean Sandy beach no rocks! and excellent facilities, made this another great experience at Lac Simon. We had a site with water and electricity. Pls remember to being a camper plug to normal plug adapter.Hotel highlightsGreat view, Kid-friendly, Great value
We took one day of camping, had a little issue with our rented spot, when we arrived, people who rented before us were still there, so the management of the SEPAQ managed tp help us to find another great spot to stay for our one night stand, despite the rain all evening and all night, we really enjoyed our stay, maybe next time we will try to rent a small chalet there.
