If you’re a fan of fishing or just enjoy the idea of battling it out with nature’s aquatic athletes, then salmon fishing at Cordova Park in Oshawa is something you’ve got to try! This place is a hidden gem, nestled right along Oshawa Creek, and come fall, it turns into a salmon showdown. Think of it as a heavyweight match between you and some very determined, very slippery Chinook salmon—basically, it’s like trying to reel in a muscle-bound fish with serious commitment issues.nnThe setting is perfect too: peaceful, scenic, and with enough picnic areas to rest your arm after all that reeling. Not to mention the trails are great if you need to stretch your legs or run off some of that fish-related frustration. And yes, those salmon? They're on a mission, swimming upstream like they're training for the Fish Olympics. It's both impressive and slightly humbling, especially when you see them leaping out of the water as if to say, “Good luck catching me!”nnWord of advice: get there early. During peak times, it’s like the fishing equivalent of rush hour—everyone wants in on the action. And while the fish might be plentiful, the prime fishing spots? Not so much. Also, don’t forget your fishing license unless you enjoy awkward conversations with the park rangers.nnAll in all, Cordova Park is the place to be for salmon fishing—just remember to bring your patience, your sense of humor, and maybe an extra sandwich. The salmon might win a few rounds, but the experience is well worth it.
