If I could give 0 starts, I would! This school is a joke! My father-in-law has lived-in the same house for 30 years! N these kids have been nothing but mean n disgusting to him. We had to move in to take care of him as he now has dementia n have felt the back lash he has felt living here! These kids Blair there music starting at 8am right till then all leave around 3. They wake up the house daily n. My father in law is terrified of them n thinks they are going to vandalism the house bc we have made many complaints and We have even asked them to please turn it down to wear they laugh in our faces.nThey also toss garbage everywhere. We pick up bags full of garbage out of our yard n neibours. The so called teaches go out when we have called n they can't even controll the kids. We have watched the kids laugh at the teachers n just turned there music up louder!
Ms Curtis is by far the best teacher , kind and compassionate. Ms Myers, well , best not to comment about her the way i want to … She should not be allowed to teach above JK . Sandbox is her appropriate skill set .
This school has been the worse experience for my son and I. So glad I was able to fight to have him transferred. No special needs child needs to go through what they do at this school
Great teachers but the school loses a star because it is deemed a state/community school by Indigenous standards! The staff really make up for the imperfect curriculum teachings. Blame the provincial government for that! They force students to write five paragraph essays in Grade 12 English using a pre-determined template and assume that they are going out to get high-paying jobs in STEM, business world, or in the Skilled Trades! Nope, there are jobs in the social sciences and humanities that have practical application, are satisfying, and more meaningful than your average tech job sitting at a desk all day! Creating social change in the community and using your heart instead of your head regardless wherever you do it - Vanier or Parkdale/Regents Park is more encouraged in this ever changing world than memorizing facts written on a blackboard. I first realized that last year and this year as well - that the school system never taught us to write a proper paper which is 8-10 pages in second year on average, how to critically analyze and think clearly and concisely in context, or how to synthesize sources and bring them together. I think schools have a responsibility to teach these skills, and to teach students not to plan for today’s world, instead think of their futures ahead of everybody else! They could be teaching the next generation how to be more prepared for the high expectation of university and the huge assignments that go with us - that way, we can stop them experiencing suicidal thoughts and dying as beautiful souls! Also, having high expectations can help alleviate anxiety and depressive symptoms in youth as well - let’s invest in these wise children because EVERY CHILD MATTERS!!
