They never handle bullying, even with us recording it happening the administration never did anything.nnOne of the counsolers actively dismissed problems my friends and I were having, despite showing clear signs of it.nnThere's more I could go over but I'd rather not get too far into the specifics, but what is for certain is that every time I think about getting near that school again my stomach fills up with dread.nnIf I could give this school a negative rating I would.
Every school has bullying- But the least a school can do is not try to pretend that they’re interested in handling bullying and that they’re a “Zero tolerance bully free zone”. Centennial likes to brand itself as a loving community focused on aiding students in rough situations, and many teachers and staff members are! The school is not horrible! But in general, the higher ups and the people who have the most power to stop bullying and harassment The principals, VPs, councillors etc… Do not care or take action unless the activity directly effects the image of the school or they are forced to deal with it by parents. For example, I’ve met other students who have told me that they had shown staff proof of SEVERE cyberbullying, threats, harassment, rumours being spread etc…that have carried INTO school, and this student was told that because the only proof shown was screenshots that were taken at home after school, it couldn’t be dealt with.nnCentennial has students from grades 7-11, I expected a little more care and help when it comes to bullying, especially considering the environment that young 12 year old kids are being thrown into. It’s not like the USA where children are more or less in the same age range in high school. There 16 year olds bullying 13 year olds. You’d think there would be a little more precaution and worry when it came to bullying.nnLike I said, if you want to ignore all the bullying and harassment in your school, fine. Nothing we can do about it. But have the decency to at least not falsely advertise your school as this safe haven for bullying victims. Do better.
Literally was a huge part of one of my best friends cptsd. Administrators and guidance are abusive and terrible people who will watch a recording of severe harassment and abuse and do literally nothing. Do whatever you can to avoid this hell, please, for your own safety.
The school is highly abusive towards its Black students. Whenever addressing or escalating your issues with school staff members or school faculty members. They would practice gaslighting tactics towards the Black students in order to diminish their claims.nnIf the school academic staff thought you were going to become a burden on their shoulders and sabotage their academic prestige because you were different. You would be labeled special needs without being clinically diagnosed by a physician. Furthermore, harming the student rather than assisting them.nnThe school's reputation is the equivalency to rubbish and waste!nnJust toss it away along side with Heritage High School!nnStart off with all of the faculty members; educators, social workers or case workers, special education coordinators, and vice principals that attend this so-called SCHOOL.nnI'm surprised Centennial Regional High School kept that covert narcissist Ms. Tight after telling a fellow student whose name I will not disclose, that they will never amount to anything in life!nnIf that isn't child abuse / institutional abuse towards children, I don't know what is.
My last year here was back in 1986. A lot of great memories. Can't give it a rating for today's operations or staff but back in the day it was great. Back then we lived around the corner on rue Jeary. Played football for the Packers of Greenfield Park and was part of the provincial championship team of 83 or 84. Can't quite remember...that was a while back.
