A beautiful find in Cedarburg. The building itself is a piece of art. It is a free admission museum. Casual and beautiful.
The museum is located in a historic home in downtown Cedarburg. I used on-street parking immediately in front of the museum. I'm not sure if parking is available in the large yard. Many steps up to the entrance. I was greeted warmly. Although there isn't an entry fee, there is a box for donations. I went specifically to see the John Colt collection, as he was my professor at UWM for Art History which left a lasting impression. I enjoy his pen and watercolor pieces - delicate, colorful, intricate figures, informative, with a touch of whimsical. The collection of the Madison born artist also included several pastels and brought back fond memories of student life and the Fine Arts Complex. It took me about an hour to walk through the museum. At the end, I spent time in the gift shop. In addition to local artist's original paintings and drawings, there's lots of unique jewelry pieces, and handmade items which make thoughtful, individualized gifts!
Beautiful, never visited in person but as an artist just from the photos it’s magical! Cedarburg has some of the most talented artist I’ve ever come across!
Lovely historic home with rotating art that you can purchase. Plus a gift shop and a beer garden on occasion. Currently there two exhibits and they are only open on Friday and Saturday from noon until 4pm. A relaxing diversion especially for the suggested admission of a $5.00 per person donation.
Intimate gallery setting with incredible histories local art, a real mix of styles and time frames, lots for everyone. Highly recommend.
The exhibit with the carved wooden birds and turned wood vases was exquisite. They don't mark the art there as for sale, but you can ask in the gift shop and see if the piece you're interested in is for sale or not. Staff are very enthusiastic about the art and are kind.
Was a very beautiful and quaint visit. Pretty small though and don't bring up that you are from out of town even if you are. Still a good experience though.
The beer garden, in the back, is awesome!! Unfortunately after today it will be closed for this season. We will be looking forward to Thursday nights next year!!
The architecture was lovely. Wonderful that Cedarburg now has an opportunity to embrace local artists.
What a great art museum! Really beautiful historic old mansion that wows you the moment you come in. It is free admission and features a lot of great Wisconsin art work. The staff and volunteer staff are always extremely friendly and welcoming. This is a place that you'll want to keep coming back to because of their many exhibitions, Thursday night beer gardens, Saturdays thirst for art, and much more. There is really a lot going on here. I definitely recommend checking it out!
