Story

Carnivore specializes in locally-sourced meats from traditional Vancouver Island farms, masterfully butchered in-store by our staff – who sincerely care about what you eat.

Welcome to the pursuit of the perfect food for carnivores (and omnivores too).

Carnivore Meats & More carries Island beef, pork, lamb, bison, chicken and turkey – from within 100 miles. We make our own fresh sausage, smoked bacon, ham, and pepperoni. We offer fresh deli salads, cold cuts, Island-corned corned beef, some of the Island's finest cheeses, and fresh meat pies.

Everything is made with hormone-free and antibiotic-free Island meats that were free-range and humanely raised. Our grinds are single batch and we accept custom orders or special cutting requests.

You can taste the difference that local quality makes.

Very helpful when asked about different kinds of meat and suggesting different ways to prepare cuts either on the BBQ or otherwise. If they dont have what you want at the counteŕ, they are very good at letting you know when it will be in stock again. Have both frozen and fresh on hand and most selections are local. They make a variety of sausages, all of which are very good. Soups available in their refrigerated/frozen section as well as a small quantity of prepared meals. Seasonings, rubs and marinades are also available in store. Also have a selection of frozen dog food as well.

Smoked Andouille sausage is delicious! Also, I made bone broth with their frozen bones and got a wonderfully jellied, good tasting, dark coloured bone broth, so much better than plain old marrow bones from grocery store. Worth the extra drive for me.

This is by far my favorite butcher in greater Victoria. Excellent products, friendly staff and great prices.

Very impressed with Carnivore. I ordered a large piece of pork with very specific directions. The staff prepared the meat exactly as I requested. It was an amazing roast and my guests are still talking about it. Wonderful to find a butcher that maintains this standard of product and service.

Best butcher on the peninsula - local, hormone free meat. Very accommodating staff too.
