Specialty food store with a deli counter in back, mostly serving sandwiches and salads. I thought this looked like an interesting lunch spot while on the road and was very happy with it! There was a little bit of a line, but the wait for our sandwiches wasn't too bad, and the people were nice. I had an Eggplant Banh Mi, filled with a very delicious combination of breaded eggplant, veggies, herbs, and spicy mayo sauce. I would point out the elements of the sandwich that most impressed me, but it would just be a list of the ingredients since it was all so good. My sandwich was about $8.50 which I think was a fair price - it wasn't huge but was a good size for me. They have a freezer of single-serve imported Italian frozen desserts which all looked appealing, and I grabbed a Pistacchio e Crema gelato cup, swirls of vanilla and pistachio gelato with chocolate sauce and chopped pistachio topping. Good stuff and not too heavy! Their grocery selection is small but it looks like they have some good stuff, like pasta some in more uncommon shapes, jarred Italian sauces and vegetables, and Italian snacks. Plus it looks like they have a good produce section.
I have always enjoyed the food from Caravia but tonight when we placed our order, our request to not have horsey sauce on one of the sandwiches was inadvertently missed. The sandwich was still great and we didn’t give it another thought but an hour or so later, I got a text from the owner offering to make a new one without the sauce and deliver it. After I said it wasn’t necessary, he said our next sandwich is on the house. It’s not at all uncommon for a special request to be overlooked but for the owner to reach out with such an offer is unheard of these days. I would have already recommend Caravia for their great food but even more so now due to their extraordinary customer service.
Caravia is excellent. Everything I’ve ever had from there be it soup, fresh veggies, salads. sandwiches, have always been delicious. I appreciate good and wholesome foods that aren’t junk, and that’s what you’ll get here. So refreshing to have this in the Abingtons where we are predominantly controlled by the bigger chain restaurants which sell predominantly junk food. Keep up the good work Caravia folks!
Small space, but packed with specialty, organic, and international goods. Their deli is great as well - I had their North Side Italian sandwich bread alone is incredible and a frozen pistachio mousse pics of freezer below. There is no seating available, it is just a takeout deli counter. They do have call ahead and pickup available as well.
Wow!!!! The apple bourbon bread pudding is to die for. Also another wonderful healthy meal I picked up for tonight is the rice and beans , and some broccoli on the side! I'm in heaven and what a meal I have for tonight. Compliments to the chef !!!!!!
Good was great. Ordered ahead with chow now, and it wasn't ready for us when we got there, nor did we get a second email. They were sure to make it quick for us as we waited. Many specialty items and good selection of drinks, and deserts. Small place, no sitting in, a few outdoor seats and nice staff. Even the young girls behind the counters and register were very pleasant.
Caravia is our go to place about five out of seven days a week. We love the food behind the counter, all the salads are made fresh every day, everything is very healthy, organic and so tasty. Their homemade soups are excellent also. We have often ordered catering dishes for our larger parties and family gatherings. Their homemade lasagna and Caesar salad can make a family gathering as easy as a phone call. Everything is delicious and the customer service is impeccable. We highly recommend!!
After my daughters soccer game I stopped to get sandwiches with my two daughters 7 & 5. Caravia’s sandwiches and food are very good and the employees are always helpful and friendly. It took over 15 minutes to get our sandwiches. They were very busy. When we finally received our sandwiches the employee apologized profusely. I wasn’t bothered by it, as I see it as an opportunity to teach my girls to be patient. When I went to the cashier she gave me my total for what I had & it was extremely low. I asked her to double check the total. She said the sandwiches were free. I cannot say enough about how that made me feel. It was highly unexpected but appreciated. That act was customer service at its finest! I will continue to stop by Caravia’s for the good food and awesome service!
An absolute staple in the area. Some of the best sandwiches you can find. Super-fresh produce, nice selection of higher-end items like cheeses, lobster ravioli, olive oil and Italian cooking ingredients. The staff is outstanding, as well.
I had an excellent experience with Caravia Fresh Foods when they catered my small backyard wedding this past weekend. It was a LARGE order and, at a time when many establishments are short-staffed, they were extremely accommodating and thoughtful. The food was DELICIOUS - freshly prepared and clearly made with care. Ryan and his team were wonderful to work with and even provided clear instructions on how to properly serve each dish. You could tell they really cared that we had a great food experience. The guests raved about the selection. Everything was delicious the chicken mirabella was a huge hit, as well as the chicken parmesan, the ravioli, and the antipasto was sooo good!. I never expected to hear so many guests rave about a kale salad !! And the dessert tray went FAST! All was excellent! I highly recommend contacting Caravia if you are looking for fresh, delicious food, prepared with thought and care and great customer service, too!. We will certainly be using them for our next event.
