Great place for a leisure walk dipping the in the Clark river. Public toilets, paid parking, picnic tables, beautiful Mountain View’s, grassy areas, long walk /bike paths on both sides of river.
Beautiful park with live music, food vendors, beer/wine, and kombucha on tap in the summer on Wednesday's and Thursdays. The river trails in town are beautiful but it's always nice to stop by Caras and sit by the river anytime of the year
Wicked fun!!! Went for Irish festival and couldn't be more pleased: the river is awesome to go and take a dip and the carousel is a blast :
Great city park for the whole family, Weekly summer events, yearly festivals, playground, merry-go-round, river access with surfing wave & biking path, newly completed outside amphitheater with grass seating & shade, pay parking & lots of places close to eat -n- drink...
Beautiful modern park with tables under multi color canopy next to the Clark Fork river Went there to enjoy our @sweetpeaksicecream and watch kayakers and boogie boarders run the rapids. Great place for a picnic with mountains in the backdrop!
Riverside park in downtown Missoula. Very few trees- all too small for shade. Picnic tables, benches, paved sidewalks and a covered area. Restroom.
I grew up in Missoula, and used to dance in the square under the bridge when missoula had weekend events when I was 2. I'm 24 now and I don't live in missoula anymore but I come back to visit sometimes. Caras park is a beautiful place, and definitely the pride of our community. I like that they recently added shade awnings and that there are more events now. I do wish they hadn't removed the hill behind the big tent. I loved to sit on that hill. If you're moving to missoula from somewhere else, please respect the land and the park! It is important to us.
Benches, Clean, paved walkway along Clark Fork River. Public parking for $1/hour. Kayaking, and Surf boarding during spring high water.
Caras is a hub for activity in Missoula. It's recently been renovated and, in my opinion, is a great place to visit, before and after the facelift. There are often events occurring there, like Out to Lunch on Wednesdays with performances & food trucks, and the Farmer's Market on Saturdays, all throughout the warmer months. Beyond events, there are plenty of open picnic tables, stone and wood benches, soft grassy seats, and shady structure to use, as well as, public bathrooms often quite dirty, in my years of experience, access to the walking trail, quick access to downtown's amenities, including, most closely, the Carousel and Dragon's Hollow play equipment for families with children. During busy times, there's people watching, and year-round fantastic views right on the river's edge. When it's warmer, from the boardwalk, the surfers and floaters alike can be seen going over Brennan's Wave. Playground: Dragon's Hollow was recently renovated and is great for many ages, with a zone for littles, and play equipment that engaged even older elementary school aged kids. Restrooms: They're usually pretty dirty, in my experience. A standalone building with Male and Female halves, multi-stall. I think closed in the winter, but not sure. Picnic area: Probably 50 picnic tables through the park. Vast amounts of grassy area some with shade, much without to bring a blanket/seat to.
Something for everyone here. Lounge in the grass. Take a walk by the river. Watch some brave surfers. Let the kids play in a fenced in play area. And enjoy the weekend farmers market. Parking can be a little tight but overall a great downtown park that serves Missoula well!
