Captain James Cook Elementary School

i go to this school myself, and i can tell you something. DO. NOT. PUT. YOUR. CHILD. IN. THIS. SCHOOL. i am in a grade 6/7 class and i experience harrasment, and bullying. i am almost turning 12,nhere are the downsides of this school:n1. 60% all of the kids that go here are racist/homophobic,n2. some kids will gossip about someone 100%n3. the bathrooms upstairs especially the girls bathroom smells AWFUL!n4. there are threats/hate writing on the walls.nnPLEASE READ THIS PART!nif you really intend to enroll your child in this school please note that when i arrive home after school i get depressed sometimes. it is likely that your child will be facing bullies at this school, i have left this school once before in gr 3 because the bullying was so bad. but then, i came back, and i have stayed for 1 whole year.nplease watch over your child's mental health no matter what age. if your child is facing bullying/harrasment please seek a family therapist/councelor. thank you so much for reading this and thank you for all the staff at cook elementary. have a good night/day -megan n

Just a review of the playground: this nearby playground is fairly good. It has a single play area, with a structure suitable for toddlers and a separate structure for school-aged kids. I would say that it's really meant for younger kids, not so much older elementary kids and certainly not middle-school aged kids. I don't appreciate the wood chip surface, which sticks to clothes and gets in shoes worse than rocks.

Does not meet the needs for autism.nChildren are fighting on school grounds and posting on social media.nDoes not report to parents when a child have fallen or bullied. Avoid this facility.

Attended this school decades ago and had exceptional caring teachers. Lots of after school programs were also available. My sisters child went to strong start here and I was pleased to see there were some upgrades e.g. Playground, interior. Large fields were great for soccer, football, etc.

This is considered a inner city school in Vanvouver. And is one of the older sesmicly built elementary schools so it's safe from being closed. They have strong start at this school which children under 5 can come and interact in begin to learn in a school like environment. From what I have seen is there are caring teachers here.
