Waste free soap refills, friendly staff, expansive location, clever items for every indoor room and outdoor space; and more and more and more. There truly is no other place like Capital Iron.
Capital Iron is closing and I'm sad. I would really like to see this building stay looking exactly the way it does. It should be declared a heritage site if it isn't already. I can see it turned into combination eatery and "made in BC " stores....like a full time year round area for artisans and crafters to sell their creations. I'm so wanting to buy Canadian made and home grown things. Tired of having to hunt in the made-in-far-far-away-factories jungle. Plus I get tired when I shop, so choices in eateries would be great. I wish we could have a collection of artisan shops like I saw a long long time ago in Seattle? Chicago? It was called Pier something. The Capital Iron building is a great place for my vision....plus there's a lot of space on the side of the building for a kids interactive play ground. Oh the things I could do!!!!!
We purchased a fire table for our deck recently. One of the selling features is that Capital Iron includes assembly and delivery. Our table arrived the day it was supposed to, an hour ahead of when they said it would, the guys were friendly, fast and even tool the garbage away with them. They made sure the table was hooked to our gas and showed us how to use it making sure all was working well. I'd recommend Capital Iron for any outdoor purchase!!
We are sorry to see them closing their doors. Doug and Will in the Outdoor Patio dept are both absolute gems, both me went out of their way to help us and we all had fun during our transactions. Thank you and good luck wherever you end up gentlemen, the business will be lucky to have you.
This unique store was very interesting to visit. They have almost everything a department store would have but also a huge area full of almost every imaginable type of camping gear and also unique supplies for that perfect camping trip. There was also a large variety of clothing, footwear, dishes and a small selection of toys. A wonderful garden shop used to be on the bottom floor but it is now all hot tubs. Outside the doors on the bottom floor was patio furniture but a large part of the area was devoid of products it may have been pulled undercover when we were there as it was raining. When in Victoria, this is one place we make sure to visit as we've found some things we haven't seen elsewhere.
Store is great. The parking lot is huge. It has a few handicapped spaces which are hard to find in that area. They say you can park for free for an hour while in store shopping. I parked in a handicapped spot, I have handicapped parking, while their store was closed. I was gone for 2 hours and got a $59.00 ticketed. I get it, it's store property and customer parking and you want enough for your shoppers when you are open, but seriously, what harm is done by my parking there when you can't shop there and why would I get a ticket for doing so. Is business that bad, that you have to ticket handicapped vehicles when you aren't even open for business. I know I won't be shopping there ever again when it is open that's for sure.
Capital Iron was a go-to place for years for unusual things but also hardware that no one else carried, both general and marine. We bought BBQ's, patio furniture, pots and cushions and much more from the friendly helpful staff. Sad to see them closing down.
Capital Iron is closing down after eons of serving Victoria. There are deals to be had before early December 2022 when the doors are closed for good. Will be sorley missed !
I recently made a very large purchase from Victoria Capital Iron. There were numerous issues. I tried working with the sales person and with management to no avail . I am still missing Issuing a piece and continue to be ignored. I wouldn't make another purchase from this store.
This place has been around a very long time. My wife and myself were in there shopping for a hot tub and stumbled onto a very good salesman. Loved the service and convinced we will purchase through them. Quality seems to be be high standard here exactly what we are looking for. And we looked at some out door heaters.
