From our beginnings as a scrap business in 1934, Capital Iron has maintained its unique charm. Over the past 80 years, the store has evolved into a true General Store for the modern consumer. We are proud to be a family-owned business since our founding. Bought a smoker from the store, went in to order a thermal blanket for the smoker. I was told I would have to leave a deposit because it was special order, no problem, deposit paid. I get a call from store saying that I should have paid for the entire amount of item and they will not order the item until I come back and pay in full, and that somehow I was never told that I would have to only pay a deposit, I must have made that part up in my mind, and that the manager had the employee who helped me right beside him and he never said that to me. I live at least a 30 min drive each way from the store. The item is $60, I have paid for 1/3 it, I would have easily paid the whole amount if I was told I had to. Whoever I spoke with on the phone was super rude. I will come back just to get my deposit, but you have lost a customer for life..

It's lovely that you can bring your dog here however the customer service is not great. Apart from my dog getting attention from one of the sales clerks I had to wander the isles to find what I needed. I gave up and finally came up to the desk where two clerks were looking at photos on a phone and chatting. I stood there and waited. Neither of them looked up at me. I waited a bit longer and politely asked for help. The cashiers were friendly and effecient.

Eclectic hardware store. Good selection of kitchen items. A little less made in North America items than I would like to see. Huge collection of barbeques in the basement. Bought Paderno pan, baking stone and kitchen storage items all at decent price. Has camping, fishing and small marine section.

Capital Iron is always a great place to shop. Lots of unusual items. Staff are always very helpful and pleasant. Jarrod in the Christmas shop solved a light problem we had in 2 minutes. Thanks again Jarrod.

I received very helpful and informative assistance from an employee in the camping equipment department with respect to some lanterns I was checking out for our condo's disaster preparedness committee.
