I have a loved one staying there and the staff has been wonderful and always answering questions for any issues I have to ask . Keeping me informed of his medical needs . Parking is in a I think 9 story parking garage and level 7 and higher are for visitors . I was able to drop off clothing , toiletries and money order for his snacks at the front . My only complaint was when I asked the security guard for restroom he pointed to a door which was the exit of the facility which was not nice all he had to say is no restroom
The only thing open 24/7 in unreported crimeville Albany. You never want to be more of a sad victim of theirs. If you are a witness to crime this is where you will go but if you remember this review, put on your running and run. Do not get caught in here. Mad in America, bad science, medicine, and the enduring mistreatment of people Mad in America a Book By RobertWhitaker.
In short: I've been with them for ten years - they constantly reassign my counselor and prescriber I've had 4 different counselors in as many months which resets any progress I've made no consistency; Counselors are inept and unfamiliar with treating my disorders one insistently told me to look up meditations on YouTube; Prescribers fail to note diagnoses malpractice; Current prescriber is unwilling to adjust medication as needed. Disgusting "care".
The police and I just dealt with my autistic son being on the roof. He has broken out of the house two other times this week. His social worker had me call to try to at least have him held 24 hours as he tried to find ways around a waiting list for placement. She repeatedly told me bacuse the police got him down there was no problem. She gave me a number, quickly told me it was wrong, and that she'd give me another, which she never did. She forgot to turn off the mic so she never hung up.She laughed at our situation, told who ever was in the room she covered for them. They both laughed and she again credited herself for "covering" for her so she didn't have to deal with our case. I told her the mic was on and she hung up.
Well I spent at least four years in CDCP and some of the time was hard. The food isn't terrible, of course know one is going to like everything. The place is loaded mice and I've seen them on my bed. The staff does have some people that are hard to deal with but on the other hand they are made to work crazy hours or get fired. One thing about the place is that they have some very scary people that can attack at any time.
They provoke fear. It was Not therapeutic. Some Political abuse of psychiatry. Several stays for job loss and then the written notes they write. Months out of life in here. Do not trust anyone to bring you here because there is no happiness. Ignorant public to the non care that happens in places like this. This was an Unforgettable poor life experience. Fear.
Worse than a prison. My girlfriend came here voluntary, and was treated like a prisoner. The staff constantly lied about when she would be evaluated. They would say a few minutes and tell her to be patient, then hours go by with no information. At least prisoners are told the truth when they ask for an appeal. After a while, all she wanted was to go home. They then refused to give her a second evaluation and hospitalized her against her will. Also, there were mice everywhere at night. The staff even joked about teaching them tricks when my girlfriend complained about them. Make sure you are serious about wanting to commit suicide when you call 911. Because if you aren't, you will want to after your stay here.
I was hospitalized here after an interaction with the Mobile Crisis Unit. I was led to a room where I waited to see a doctor for several hours before being led to a private room where I had to stay with an adult at all times . They stopped all my medication and forgot to bring us food. They only remembered to give me food once, a turkey sandwich, even though I told them I was a vegetarian. They provided none for my mother who was forced to stay there with me, so she just ate the turkey sandwich. I was there for two days and was scared for most of it. Also someone broke our car's window while it was in the hospital's parking garage.
Do not ever choose to be admitted to this hospital. The staff will not keep you safe in the fact that any potentially harmful items you have with you- tweezers, blow dryer etc. that they are supposed to make sure you check in the staff does not pay attention whatsoever. If I was still feeling as suicidal in this death hole as I did when I arrived, I could have ended it no problem. It is not a safe or clean place. My room was full of ants and I was accused of drawing the ants into the room with my dirty socks rather then the staff address the problem. It was only several nights into my stay that I was finally moved to a different ant-free room. You will only see a doctor 2-3 times if you are there 8-10 days. The only good thing I will say is the doctor was very kind but the nursing staff is deplorable and should be in jail for the lack of attention and care they show those who are suffering.
Member of staff threatened to take a patient outside and beat him up. You're given one pair of paper-like clothes to wear, have to ask for a toothbrush, I still don't even know where the shower was or if one even existed after being held there against my will for four days. Never got a hair brush either. They don't tell you what's going on and you're left in the dark, staring at walls between questionable meals, wondering if they'll really hold you for the maximum amount of time they're allowed to by law, because no one seems to listen your pleas to get out. Didnt even know where I was until another patient informed me of the name of the place. Creepy bug I never saw before crawling in the dining area. They will push meds on you multiple times and threaten to keep you longer if you don't consent to sharing your mental health records with someone you're living with. A lot of ppl experiencing psychosis seemed overmedicated. Some of the staff look down on the patients/don't want to acknowledge them/answer their questions.
