This is such a beautiful hole and my favourite at the canoe club golf course. It follows the river on the right side, and sadly I lost my first ball because I didn't think it was that close. The course is so much fun, I went the other morning when we took this shot. Pretty challenging course for only being nine holes. One of the holes on the other side I can't remember which one was very long. Being an intermediate player I would recommend this course to anyone trying out golf but are not keen on those small par 3 courses. Great location actually splits with the highway and fun to play.
This is a really poorly managed course, I've never seen a course in such poor condition that was open to the public. Aside from the severely damaged greens, tee boxes and dry fairways we had to play through greens that were actively being watered with hoses strewn in front of the greens blocking play. The hoses and sprinklers were arranged in a way that caused water to pool all over the greens making them entirely unplayable. Anyone that's golfed knows the courses are watered in the early hours of the morning and at the end of the day. Despite this we were charged full price and course staff are not up front about the condition of the course when booking. We expressed our concerns to the staff and they were dismissive and claimed every course is in this condition and this couldn't be further from the truth. This 9 hole course has great potential that will never be realized under the management group in place. Do yourself a favour and avoid this course at all costs.
We have been playing golf for many years, this is the worst experience. We were pushed to hurry up by the staff in dark red T-shirt just because the girl in flip-flops after us was waiting for us finishing.have you ever thought about like, single person always goes fast than two, carrying the ball across the pond and giving a shot when closer to the green saves much more time,Waiting is acceptable and normal while playing golf.how about when we caught up the other group, we also waited and finally we had to give up because of the time limit.
Course has lots of potential but Greens are in terrible shape, worse I’ve ever seen at any golf course. Only positive is that I was able to get a last second tee time when all the other courses were full. Now I understand why.
Person in the pro shop was nice enough. Even called me once we had booked our tee time to let us know power carts were not available as the course was extremely wet. This was the very first golf course I belonged to as a kid.I moved out of Winnipeg some 30 years ago and wanted to play the course again after all those years to see it again. I have to give the maintenance crew a bit of a break I guess due the fact they were actively pumping water off the fairways BUT it almost brought me to tears to see the course in such horrendous condition. Greens were crazy slow with lots of dead spots. Fairways were long plenty of weeds and the tee off boxes were even worse. Sorry for the negativity, but hopefully by pointing these things out, someone will put the resources back into this golf course so it will be something the city will be proud of again.
I have to say this is a great place to play 9 holes in the middle of the city. It’s challenging but also was perfect for my wife who is just starting out with golf. The staff was great and they even showed us a new trick when buying a new glove. I never knew that you should make a fist before closing your glove. Very knowledgeable and friendly. We had a lot of fun and the only reason I’m not giving it a higher rating is because I got a bit confused when trying to go to the other side of the course for the last 4 holes. The course is placed in in between the highway and you have to go under a bridge. No one’s fault, just inconvenient. All in all, we had a lot of fun at the canoe club golf course and will definitely be back.
Excellent golf course! I can’t stress enough how much better this course has gotten. I played here at the canoe club golf course about a month ago and understood what the mixed reviews were about. I guess a lot of the reviews were from a while ago … because the course plays really good right now! I love this course. It’s close to everything and is quite a challenging 9 hole course. #6 is still a doozy. Very long and you have to guess where the green is because of the long curve to the hole behind the trees. Such a beautiful hole. I would definitely recommend people come and play here for a quick nine. We had so much fun yesterday!
Nice course, a little longer distances. Good challenges on some holes- water, sand etc. Fairway grass was long, lost/found some golf balls. Some of the greens were rough.
Friendly service, course was in rough shape, greens were in embarrassing shape. First time playing here would never pay to play this course again, waste of money.
Worst course in Manitoba by far, the greens look like absolute garbage, they have tree roots coming out of the green and they haven’t been watered in years it looks like. The people running the place are rude. One of their carts has no roof?? I wouldn’t even play at this course again if it was free. Don’t go here, you’re better off playing in a back lane
