Nestled at the base of the Coastal Mountain Range, Canlan Ice Sports - North Shore is North Vancouver's largest and most pristine recreational ice facility complex. Conveniently located off of Highway #1 at the north end of the Second Narrows Bridge, Canlan Ice Sports -North Shore plays host to several large scale events and tournaments throughout the year. Our 3 NHL-sized ice surfaces, complimentary parking lot and unobstructed upper level viewing area has made us a popular choice for recreational ice activities among Lower Mainland residents.

Within the walls of the facility lies The Thirsty Penguin Grillhouse which overlooks all 3 ice surfaces and provides a comfortable environment to view games or to relax in afterwards with your teammates. Pros Fries hot Clean location Cons Ordered honey garlic wings with seasoned fries. Wings tasted like Frank's red hot mixed with honey garlic. Told the bar staff. Didn't do anything. Didn't take photo. Looked like honey garlic. Kitchen staff was blonde guy with a red hat.
I registered for Play to Learn but was told my group was combined with Play to Develop participants; I found the drills too challenging as I'm just learning to play hockey. It would have been helpful if a note was made on the registration page so one is fully aware of what they're signing up for. As for the lessons, instructors were nonetheless friendly, encouraging, and were willing to adapt the exercises based on skill levels.
I really don't like this place. Miscommunication between staffs were awful. At first day of lesson, we were 2 minutes late due to horrible traffic jam to get thereWe were caught in the car for 30 min. And suddenly encountered ridiculous Mobile Health Check Request. To do that, My kid lost 11 minutes more. They never let my daughter came in first. Lesson time is only 30 minutes, we could attend only for 17 minutes. We go Delbrook Recreation Center, West Vancouver Community Center, Harry Jeromme Recreation Center, but any of them has no such thing like Mobile Health Check Request which has to be done every time we go. And when I said I've never heard this process when I enrolled, an old lady said they have sent an email just a day before that day with grumpy voice, so I checked my email account and even spam folder but there was no such an email. And one staff told us to go to changing room 8, and another staff told us to go to changing room 5. They were really confused themselves. The second day we went, when I wanted to come in again to pick up my kid, a young woman said I could wait at the side gate instead of letting me in. Of course my kid didn't know where to go, so she was searching for me everywhere with her skates on. I wondered, every other parents came out of there with there kids, why did she ask me to wait at the side door?only to me? On the third day, I waited my daughter at the side gate like she said a week ago, this time I told my daughter where to meet me. But she was scolded by an old woman like, 'Where's your mom?Did you come in to the arena with your skates on?You can't go outside with your skates on'. I told the woman, a young woman told me to wait here, but she said that's because I was in the wrong line,so she could have thought my kid is in the other class. No! That's was not my fault! I was in the right line which is for North Van Rec Center! They could make mistakes, but they never admit it. On fourth day when it's time for pickup, a man said I could wait in the hallway because it was still 4 minutes left. So I was in the hallway, he even followed me and made sure I was in the right place, but right after then a woman came to me talking, 'You can't be here. You should be in the changing room' I told her a man told me to wait in the hallway, but she repeated the same thing. And today, I saw a family was waiting in the hallway, but no staff told them they couldn't be there. What???? I don't know gathering in a small changing room is better than waiting in the hallway. Everybody here says different thing whenever I go there. I would never let my daughter take lesson which takes place at this place.
3 rings inside. A big restaurant for food, and comfortable to watch the game
Great rink . Great warm upstairs with food and drinks.
My husband recently called Ice sports to book ice and he is a professional hockey player. A lady named Morgan Reilly or O’Reilly answered the phone and told my husband she was doing him a favour by booking him ice and then proceeded to be very unpleasant and unprofessional on the phone. The next day he called to cancel as he did not want to pay for these kind of services. We have been using Ice sports since the place opened and have never been treated like this. So we call to cancel and she answers again and tells him there will be no refund even though more than 48hrs notice. Anyway its more about how she acted and again acted in a way unbefitting of her position as sales manager. We were so disgusted by this treatment that we will not be going to Ice Sports again.
Like the arena. Best arena in the north Vancouver. Ice is like a mirror, caring staff. I wish they offer some adult skating lessons.
Chairs are uncomfortable to watch a whole game in, needs more padding for sure. The food is alright, some items taste very frozen. They serve beer and wine which is great, and the staff is very nice.
Amazing experience at their amazingly organized and extremely fun Spring Break Camp. My son is now hooked on hockey because of his positive experience there.
It’s nothing special Wouldn’t recommend Though the dressing room bathrooms are, to my surprise, extremely clean. Idk how that’ll help you but hey it’s something
