What a wonderful bucket list trip! We had wanted to rent one of these for years. Every summer we saw them on the road so we decided this was to be our year! We left nothing to chance and decided to book in early January for a Sept trip! And even with that much notice, we struggled to get the unit we wanted. There are deals to be had for early booking. At the time of the booking, we were able to use a 50% off coupon for our mileage package - this was very helpful as we planned to drive the RV well over 2,000 km during our trip. We opted on the Deluxe Van Camper as we hoped it would help with gas. We also wanted a unit that was self contained - open cabin to the driver seats. However, once we figured our dates, we found that these units were not available at the Toronto pick up location on our date. This worked out to our advantage as we were able to book a pickup at their Montréal location which was on the way to our final destination. This saved us a little more than 1,000 km by not having to pay for kms between Toronto and Montreal. The rentals come with some kilometres included - ours was 100 free km per day. There are many mileage packages available to choose from, including an unlimited km package. We rented it for 8 days which came to a little less than $3000. We were asked to put a $500 deposit at the time of the reservation. The remaining is due a month before the trip begins. Be prepared for extra charges such as a preparation fee, insurance fee, and extra driver fee in our case. On pick up day, we were asked to put a $1000 deposit down for damages which would be refunded shortly after trip. There are lots of things you can add to your package - take a look at booking time! We got caught with no dishes, pots or pans because we didn’t take the kitchen package and sadly we forgot to bring our own lol!! It worked out well though as the unit comes with a microwave and we had access to BBQ pits at the campsites. Our model was a brand new 2022 model. The gas was no where as expensive as we had imagined. The captain chairs were very comfortable for driving! It took a bit to get comfortable driving the van as it is bigger than my little Kia Forte hatchback… Once you get the hang of it - it is a beautiful drive!! BTW - the door to gas up can only be opened when the driver’s door is open - took us a few minutes to figure that one out lol. Everything worked well in the camper. This unit is built for two people… it is not very roomy but yet just big enough! We opted to leave the bed down most days as we took full advantage of opening the back door, pulling the screen down, and watching nature from our bed. This unit comes with a shower/toilet combo which is very tight to say the least but very helpful to have. Truth be told, we only used it once as it was more convenient for us to use the showers provided at each camp site. Canadream sends lots of communications before your trip to make sure you’re as prepared as can be - watch all the videos and download all the apps, they can be very useful! We stayed at RV/Camping grounds 6 out of the 7 nights. Depending where your travels take you, I’d book those early as well, especially if your heart is set on specific locations, as mine was! We saw many stop at the Walmart parking lots for the night - but we wanted amenities and water views!!We were driving from Montreal to Shediac, New Brunswick and planned on driving 4-5 hours each day which gave us time to enjoy the camper on the mornings we were hitting the road and still get to our next campsite before dinner. The CanaDream crew was awesome - from the agents on the phone when booking, to picking up and dropping off the RV. We are already planning a future trip to see this beautiful country of ours in a CanaDream RV.
Highly recommend the Montreal branch, the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The RV was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. The transfer service is extremely useful as are all of the optional extras to tailor your trip to your needs. If you’re wanting an RV from Montreal, use CanaDream!
We chose to end our trip a day earlier but it would have been convenient for us to drop the RV after hours and they told us it was unsafe to leave it ouside the gate and come back during open hours. They told us to leave it in a Walmart parking lot instead. Which is in no way safer. They're going to make us travel back and forth from home and burn gas with an RV we don't need anymore just to return it during open hours.
Took an RV from this place. Returned it back safe and sound. No tech issues. Great customer service. Loved the coloring books provided and the 10% discount on KOA camp grounds. Thanks Canadream.
I'm from Ottawa, I recently purchased an older used Class C from a guy in Montreal and when I asked Canadream for support inspection/check/winterizing they were 110% there for me with friendly customer service Christian & Nancy and some helpful tips n tricks Steve. I don't usually write these but they REALLY deserve to be mentioned !!! THANKS Canadream Montreal team - AWESOME service and people !!
Rented a unit from the Montreal location. The service counter people were very friendly and helpful. Although they could improve the wait time a bit. Cost to rent is expensive - this is to be expected though given the Capital Expenditure of the campers but they kinda nickel and dime on things that I would consider necessities like dishes and sheets for the bed. Quality of van rented was very good and clean. We had a flat tire. The call Center was very attentive and helped us out quickly to get back on the road. They could really use a shuttle service of some sort. The rental location is way out in Blaine think Vancouver to chilliwack so if you’re flying in we flew in from Alberta and renting your cab ride is over a hundred bucks. This one thing would significantly improve the experience.
Getting in touch with Montreal branch early in the morning was a bit difficult despite the Google indication that the office is open and the advice of a CanaDream agent a day before. Once I got through later on they were very friendly and reorganised the booked shuttle service in an uncomplicated manner.
The vehicle had 28,000 km, it was clean. However the oven did not work, we could not cook our meals...we were not offered a discount. Upon return they notice a starch on the rv, it was there prior to us taking it and ask if i had taken photos? They did not perform a walk around prior to us taking the rv...something to be careful next time. -- Company followed up and offered to help us out, great customer service.
VR was in good condition and fun to operate. Pricing seems fair while comparing to other VR companies. The videos online are pretty well made to understand how to operate the VR good for first time users. Initially, my girlfriend and I were pleased by our trip and our experience with the company. Young woman who served us at pick up was friendly although she forgot to tell us that the used water tank was open and we had our used water leaking off the side of the vehicle until we realized it was left open at departure. The experience was really spoiled by the customer service received at the Mirabel branch after the trip. We left keys for our bike lock on the VR's key ring. We called 2 or 3 days after to notify them. Initial person who answered said she did not have the keys even before knowing which vehicle we rented. I had to insist to ask for our reservation number. Frustrated by the fact she clearly was not willing to look into it, I just decided to call the next day and talk to another person. This person verified with our reservation number and said the vehicle we had rented was destined to be returned in Toronto in a couple of days and that they would check the key ring upon return. I never heard back. 3rd time I called, person who answered said they could not help me because their system was currently down... Clearly, customer service is very mismanaged. Not sure if the problem is recruitment, training, controls or understaff. We would have liked to feel more willingness to help and a follow-up.
Excellent service at Montreal rental office. Fantastic people more than willing to oblige. Super easy to rent and return. Will be back again!!
