This review is based on an experience that I had today over the phone with the Canadian Tire store manager. For privacy reasons, I will not put his name. The manager was not rude but he lacked compassion and willingness to help with my situation. I will explain my situation below for more context.nnOn March 12th, my husband purchased a rooftop carrier SportRack brand on clearance. It looked the same as other brands but it was a great price. We thought it would be the same quality as Thule and just the name brand would be the difference. We were wrong. Very wrong.nnWe drove from SA to Arizona, USA with this carrier with no problems. Then today, driving down the interstate, the carrier rips open and bends the plastic. Both locks were locked and all latches were latched but it still opened. We did hear a bang but we thought it was the items we had in the carrier banging around. Thankfully someone flagged us down before anything flew out and caused an accident. The back latch was broken right off. After re-latching the front and removing all items from the carrier, we drove slowly and used the next exit to take back roads instead of taking the interstate.nnMy husband and I are not comfortable driving our family around with this anymore we considered using ratchet straps but that is less than ideal. We were hoping to get a refund or store credit to go towards the purchase of a new one to drive home. The issue I have is that the store manager told me that without the product in store, he couldn't do anything. He said I should call the manufacturer, SportRack, because that is what he would do. Normally I would agree but we have only had this carrier for 11 days. His other solution was to call Canadian Tire Customer Relations but they are closed and it is a long weekend. We are in another country and do not have the room to bring a broken and low quality carrier home with us to get a refund. I will still try calling Customer Relations when they are open but this is not a good customer service experience.nnI understand this is a unique situation and would normally agree you need to have the product in the store for a return but how many people would strap two carriers on top of each other to drive over 2,500 km across two countries to get a rooftop carrier refunded? Seems unsafe and ridiculous.nnAgain, this review is not based on all of my experiences with Canadian Tire. Most of the time my experiences are fine. It can be hard to find staff to get help but nothing to write a review about.
Me and my Kitty can now fly with peace of mind our local Canadian had in stock and it was easy to find with the Canadian Tire App amd blinking shelf label.
We recently had a terrible experience with my husband getting accused of stealing by a rude employee, when he had already paid for the helium for the balloons we bought elsewhere and the bicycle he bought for my daughter's birthday. The employee yelled her accusation, as he was walking through the store - she did not have the decency to speak to him in a private tone. When prompted to see his receipt, he was more than happy to produce the receipt.nnIt was embarassing, especially in a small town like Salmon Arm, on a busy Saturday. In retail, you absolutely cannot accuse someone of stealing unless you have cold, hard proof they have stolen.nnI'm disappointed with this experience and we will happily take our business elsewhere.
Not a good place to work. They never understand any personal issues or family emergencies. nI got invited for paperwork and I was late because I was coming from Vancouver because of some family emergency and I explained my Problem to Manager. She didn’t understand anything and puts that situation as an excuse. Shame
To the two ladies who helped me out at the end of the day today with the photo finish dash for the Mach 2 towable inner tube before closing---and the young man who brought it to the customer service desk for me--- thank you so much for doing that. It will not be forgotten!
