I would avoid this location at all costs. At the end of June I had to bring my vehicle in because it smelt like burning oil. I was told it was a valve gasket head that needed to be replaced and paid $600 to have it fixed. Within a few days I still noticed the burning oil smell and decided to bring it back after another 3 weeks of the smell, and now smoke coming from the engine. I brought it in, was told there was no smell, nothing they could see, was given my key back and told to have a good day. I was not charged the second time. I decided to get a second opinion another 2.5 weeks later when the smell was persisting, and continued to get worse, as well as more smoke coming from the engine. I was told there was oil all over the engine, transmission belt and exhaust, which I also was sent photos of from the tech of the mechanic shop I went to. It was cleaned, and I was advised to bring it back in 1000 km so they could identify the issue. They did, and I now have a $6,400 fix ahead of me.nnWhile I don’t believe that they created the issue with my car, the neglect and mishandling of the care of my concerns is where my issue is. The tech who looked over my vehicle said they looked and couldn’t smell or see anything. They only idled the car in the bay of the shop; they didn’t drive the vehicle according to their records and the invoice I was given. There was no offer to bring it back, no offer to wash the engine and no offer to have me go on a drive with a tech to recreate the smell. When I spoke to the Auto Service manager, Devin, to file a complaint he expressed his understanding for my frustration but advised me “the tech did everything he could have, your vehicle was bone dry, and sometimes you need to bring your vehicle back multiple times to have it diagnosed properly.” I would have had no problem bringing my vehicle back in multiple times if that’s what it took in order for me to have a safe vehicle, but was told at the time I picked it up to have a good day and that there was absolutely nothing wrong.nnI don’t know much about vehicles, but I think I am pretty self-aware to understand that smoke and a strong smell of burning oil is not a good sign. I have large doubts that this location actually did anything on the second visit when I went back, and I am disappointed by the lack of consideration I received. My vehicle was at risk of starting on fire at anytime when I drove it, and I was told it was a matter of if, not when. I am glad I went elsewhere and now have a reliable vehicle again to drive. The dismissive attitude of this location is unsatisfactory and would strongly advise you take your vehicle elsewhere.
Just heading home from what I can only describe as an extremely frustrating experience at Canadian tire.nnI was looking to replace my old battery it just crapped out after only 2 years of use. One younger employee was very helpful, however needed assistance with testing the battery before we wanted to move forward on replacing it. The older employee, his colleague, elected to serve two groups of customers before helping to test our battery. We were then told that without the original invoice, they would not be able to help us on the warranty. They could look it up using the serial number we regularly shop here, and he confirmed that they could look it up, but it was against their store policy. Made zero sense and we almost laughed in his face. Just zero effort to communicate with or assist us after being very loyal customers for years.nnSafe to say I won’t likely be back at this location as I was forced to pay for a brand new battery.nnReally rough customer service experience.
I called and made an appointment for the ELVIS document and brought my vehicle on time. It took them 1.5 hours to process my vehicle. It took 3 hours to get it back. And I had to communicate with two sullen employees. I can't understand why such corporate companies hire such people. I recommend you go to another service for everything you need. You pay for the service even though you have an appointment, you wait for hours and you deal with people with ridiculous attitudes. Go somewhere else
I'm glad I read these reviews. I just moved into the area and was going to bring my fleet vehicle in for new tires and was looking at using them for my services moving forward. I called several times and no answer and no option to leave a voice mail. When I finally got through I was quickly told to hold... not asked if I could. I sat on hold for a few minutes then it started ringing again before the call was dropped. I called back and again no answer. After that I looked at the reviews. Yep it all checks out. Will not continue to try and book an appointment here. If how attentive they are to incoming calls is any indication of how the service will be I dodged a bullet here.nnDear Canadain Tire Corporate, perhaps look at a system and or staffing change for your service department. It would be handy to have a shop I could actually use in the neighborhood.
Extremely disappointed with both the product and the customer service at Canadian Tire Dalhousie Calgary, AB.nnI purchased The Rock Copper Essentials cookware set, trusting the “Canadian Tire Tested” label and the glowing product description. It claimed to be ultra-durable, non-stick, and professional-grade. In reality? The very first pot I used stuck so badly I had to throw out the entire meal. Not just disappointing—completely unusable.nnWhen I returned to the store, I was told I couldn’t get a refund because the item had been used even though it was only 1 pot from a set, used only 1time. Of course it was used—how else would I know it’s defective? Even after involving the manager, I was only offered an exchange. So now I’m stuck with a product I don’t trust and no way to recover my money.nnThis policy punishes customers for believing the marketing. If “Canadian Tire Tested” means you can’t test it yourself without forfeiting your right to a refund, then it’s meaningless. I expected better from a Canadian brand that claims to stand behind its products.nnBuyer beware: once you open the box, you’re on your own
