I was a traveler passing from the US to Canada. There's a separate building for the buses where the bus stops in front of it, and people get off to go through an immigration interview. I was a bit nervous, but the staff here was very kind. The immigration interview was quick and easy. It didn't take more than half an hour for all passengers of the bus to go through the immigration, I guess.
They didn't register my reentry in 2020, and when wanted to go back to the US in 2023, I discovered I have a 10-year ban in the US. Because THIS port of entry didn't register me properly but registered correctly my partner who was with me the two times, my canadian travel records don't show I came back to Canada... I lived in Vancouver the 3 years, and even went to France twice I don't know if it's the agent I saw back in 2020 who didn't register properly, or if it's a bug in the system, but now I have to prove during the beginning of covid times, of course that I went out and did things in Vancouver to prove I was there the whole time. They don't even have video footage because they keep footage only for 2-3 months, which is really reassuring when thinking about the security of the country... Lessons from this: - always ask for a receipt or confirmation. - always keep ALL the receipts in case you have to prove you were where you were.
You need to learn how to treat people like humans and not like they’re cartel scum. Do you think treating others like they’re on the run or smuggling drugs makes your interactions more meaningful? Get over yourself, power tripping officer Smith. Help us to respect the you behind the badge by respecting the us through the policy. Or keep dividing us with your inhumane treatment.
I’ve had a number of interesting experiences and my most recent cross-border trip was the most pleasant of all -except a few details.All were professional, polite, and courteous. They were accommodating to our special needs, even under the circumstances. Accessibility needs major improvement in this facility for the sake of all patrons. The folks working here deserve to be working in better conditions. The building itself is the only negative, otherwise I would feel safe and happy to travel through this crossing again.
Had a pleasant experience at this CBSA on a Friday morning. We visited to update our permits study to post-grad work permit + spousal work permit after flagpoling at the US Customs and Border Protection. There was no line when we got there at around noon, and we waited for about 2 hours after handing the documents to an officer. We came prepared with all the necessary documents completion letter, unofficial transcript, and proof of term break approval from my university for the PGWP; proof of our relationship and that I was working in order for my spouse to be eligible for her OWP extension, plus our current permits and passports, which made the officer’s job easier as she didn’t have to ask too many questions. I was just a little disappointed that I received a 2-year PGWP instead of 3 years, apparently due to my accelerated studies completed a 2-year program in 1 year and 9 months, but the officer was reasonable and seemed well-informed about IRCC’s policies.
Never trust your Google maps this close to the border. Learned my lesson the hard way! These people will treat you like a criminal or a smuggler just because you took the wrong turn. We live 4 hours away and they detained us for 2 hours and went through our whole vehicle. I understand keeping borders safe, but I never even wanted to go into Canada. So to be treated like I was trying to smuggle guns and drugs in was ridiculous and humiliating. I will never cross the border at this border crossing, ever. Every single person I had the displeasure of being detained by or over heard were some of the rudest people. Yelling at little old ladies, just downright hostile.
My family went for an overnight trip for our spring birthdays including me, entering on Friday near 3pm didn’t take too long, probably a 10minute wait to enter. However, on our way back home near 5-6pm entering the US was a lot longer wait, almost 30-45 minute wait with only 3 lanes open. We absolutely love the First opening of the Night Market, and Granville island exploring the public market. They have beautiful land and blossom tree in the spring. Great for picnicking. However I did notice it hard to find parking in some areas and lots of traffic if you’re trying to do left turns. Thank you Canada I had a great time! Wish I could’ve stayed longer to explore!
It was fine & traffic.not too heavy considering closure of the other site. However they could manage their lanes better. Since they curve alot of time no one is in the 2nd lane as it's not visible as available. The agent once freed up needs to hail the car over to himself.
Apparently its illegal to be denied entry and then to go drive 10 miles down the road and try again and lie. Lol. She said she was gonna throw me infront of a magistry or something brittish pr something. Not even a felon. No DUIs perfect driving record. Money in bank, 13 years since I been arrested for even a misdemeanor. They still wont let you up there.
We came here to get a student visa, it's required to get it at the border. We were asked why we came here, implying this was the wrong place, and then told our request was at the bottom of the hierarchy and we've already been waiting 4 hours. No end in site. This is a waste of time for a piece of paper, while we also see staff wandering aimlessly doing literally nothing. Or chatting behind the desk about personal things. This has been horrible.
